New Version of "Article Information"[edit]

Sometime in January 2017, the "Article Info" had changed to "Wikihistory". The original Article Info page is more concise than the new version. Here is an example using Pokémon Theme: Old Version; New Version. Yoshiman6464 ♫🥚 03:41, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I assume you mean the link at top of page histories at the English Wikipedia. It's made by MediaWiki:Histlegend. https://tools.wmflabs.org/xtools-articleinfo has been unstable for years and is currently not included there. It was removed 26 January, restored 3 February and removed again 8 February. You can add it under "Tools" in the left pane with the below in your common JavaScript. mw.util.addPortletLink(
  'p-tb',
  'https://tools.wmflabs.org/xtools-articleinfo/?article=' +
  encodeURIComponent(mw.config.get( 'wgPageName' )) + '&project=en.wikipedia.org',
  'Article info',
  'pt-articleinfo',
'Show revision history statistics for this page',
  null,
  '#t-info'
);

Inclusionism[edit]

Is there a Wikipedia essay about inclusionism?

I know there's a page on wikimedia, but why there, and not on Wikipedia?

Benjamin (talk) 11:20, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There is an article Deletionism and inclusionism in Wikipedia. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion is not a war zone mentions inclusionism. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:59, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Easy way to link to current revision of a page?[edit]

It happens semi-frequently that I want to use a WP:PERMALINK to a page, usually when it points to a board that gets archived regularly. My usual procedure is to go to the page, click "history", click the first revision, and include the whole URL as an external link.

Is there a better (read: faster) way to do it? My dream would be a substituable template {{subst:current page revision|Foo}} that goes and fetch the current revision of the page and replaces the code with a permalink, but I am not sure it is technically feasible. mw:Help:Magic words#Technical metadata of another page shows {{REVISIONID: page name }}. I haven't found a template which uses it for your purpose but it could be made. [{{subst:fullurl:Foo|oldid={{subst:REVISIONID:Foo}}}} Foo] produces Foo at the time of my edit. And [[Special:PermanentLink/{{subst:REVISIONID:Foo}}|Foo]] produces Foo. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:38, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Woah. The latter is exactly what I want. I might be going to ask template editors to code this - I mean, I am not the only one wanting this, right? TigraanClick here to contact me 07:45, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, after a bit of trial-and-error in the syntax, I managed to set up {{link current revision}}. Thanks PrimeHunter! TigraanClick here to contact me 13:02, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Collapsing individual columns in table?[edit]

Hello, is it possible to create tables where you can toggle the collapsing of individual columns? E.g.

Show? 1 Show? 2 Show? 3
only on click only on click only on click
always always only on click only on click only on click
always always only on click only on click only on click

So the headers "Show?" 1-3 and "always" should always be visible, the other cells only on demand. I wasn't able to create such a table from Help:Collapsing
TIA! --Wikiinger (talk) 14:06, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No, nor is it likely to ever be possible. All the more because hiding content in general is simply a bad idea. Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Scrolling_lists_and_collapsible_content. If you find yourself in need of something like that, it should make you wonder if you are writing a proper encyclopaedic and readable article or not. —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 14:45, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
*gets on high horse* It may well be that the OP's intended use violates the MOS and is poor presentation, but answering "how do I do X" by "you shouldn't do X at all" is poor netiquette. Imagine asking here about a Windows computer failing to boot and being met with a barrage of "just install Linux". TigraanClick here to contact me 07:57, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

Diving bell with clump weight

I uploaded an image file to Wikipedia. It's in the database and now I want to insert it into an article, but I cannot access it. It does not show up on a search. I don't know how to access it, nor am I able to see other images that Wikipedia has in their library. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MichaelSmart (talkcontribs) 18:19, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your image is at File:Conventional clump weight bell system.jpg . I'd show you how to use it but that's not easy on this mobile. Maproom (talk) 18:39, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You can use it as shown to the right. Maproom (talk) 22:51, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Alt Right[edit]

Some Alt Right subscribers are jewish which goes completely against the Wiki definition of Alty Right. I'm alt right and I'm not a white supremacist which also goes against the ridiculous definition on Wiki.

This is insanely inaccurate. Be more objective and collect data from unbiased sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.242.247.186 (talk) 20:15, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you see an error in a Wikipedia article, please be bold and fix it. If you can provide better sources to an improve an article, that would be great. RudolfRed (talk) 20:33, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
