Template:US image sources lists U.S. sources of free images. It includes Flickr, and says the required license is CC 2.0. But at WM Commons, I believe CC 2.5 or higher is required. Am I interpreting this correctly? Is this template out-of-date? MB 04:42, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information; but there may be nobody here who has any use for it. I'm guessing you are suggesting that it be added to an article. If you have a published source for the information, you are welcome to add it to the article (with a citation to that source) - Wikipedia is the encyclopaedia that anybody may edit. If you don't feel confident in editing the article, or do not have a source, the best place to suggest it is on the article's talk page (every article has a Talk page, though in some cases the Talk page has not yet been created). If no published source can be found, then the information should not go into the article, as all information in Wikipedia is supposed to be referenced to published source.

Qatar edit[edit]

On the main page of the qatar entry there is a bias line:

In June 2017, The Wahhabi terrorist states, Saudi Arabia (a brutal dictatorship that sponsors terrorism and has proven links to 9/11 and other atrocities) , Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt cut off diplomatic relations with Qatar for allegedly supporting terrorism, causing the 2017 Qatar diplomatic crisis. In 2017, Qatar was the best. By Jamal Badr. Also, they aren't terrorists.

Translation template?[edit]

I've just made an edit which includes a quote that I'm fairly certain has been translated by somebody with a less-than perfect grasp of English (but undoubtedly better than my knowledge of Finnish).

Anyway as it's a quote I don't want to change it, but is there a template one can use to show that a quote may not have originally been in English? At the moment it's unsourced so removal is always an option, but I'd rather keep it as I've already trimmed quite a bit from the section in question. Hello, Anonymous user. Not quite sure what you're asking, but I'm guessing that you want somebody to write an article about Katie Frates. It's fine to ask for that (though you could make your request a bit clearer), but Wikipedia articles take a lot of work to create, and all our editors are volunteers, who write about what they find interesting or important. If you think she is sufficiently notable (in Wikipedia's special sense - i.e. that there are several pieces of substantial material published about her by people who have no connection with her) then there could be an article about her. You could try creating it yourself (start by reading your first article - but it isn't easy), or you could request it by adding it to an appropriate list at Requested articles. If you find some suitable independent sources, and cite them in your request, that will make the request more attractive for somebody to pick up and work on. --ColinFine (talk) 22:52, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Article not indexing on Google Search[edit]

Hello all. This following article has been published on wikipedia, but it impossible to find it through search engines unless you have the specific link. I have looking into the source code and found this <meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow"/> How can we remedy to the problem?

@Sthiomb: Also, the article was just created today. It takes a little bit of time for Google to index articles, so they will never appear immediately. Why is my Userpage Nominated for Deletion?[edit]

My apologies if this is the incorrect forum (I don't spent much time in the community part of Wikipedia), but my userpage was nominated for deletion by User:Marvellous Spider-Man. As I wrote in the AfD page (here): "My user page contains contact information (explicitly allowed under Wikipedia:User pages) and "Work in progress or material that you may come back to in future"." Am I breaking some rule unknown to me? What is the rationale? PvOberstein (talk) 17:32, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think that keeping a draft on "Sabzar Ahmad Bhat" among your user pages would be fine. But putting it on your user page User:PvOberstein, which is meant to be a page about you as relevant to your activities on WIkipedia, is not. That said, I still have to ask: is it proper procedure to simply nominate a userpage for deletion without making any outreach to the user? Furthermore, does the posting of contact information constitute a "promotional userpage"? (I realize this might sound passive aggressive, that is not my intent, I would simply like an answer). Surely it depends on the context? Why would you want contact information on a userpage - when the very reason for a userpage is to provide a contact point for a user. Contact info for something other than on-Wiki use shouldn't be necessary. It may be that some users have alternate accounts in operation, so want to list them, but otherwise it's hard to image a need for any other form of valid contact info. Probably better to say that having contact information may not be promotional, but each case differs.

However, as to your other comment - I would expect out of courtesy (apart from obviously disruptive or vandalistic cases) that a user should be approached prior to the deletion request being submitted. Here is a weird one...[edit]

I went to the page at c:Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Official portraits of Donald Trump when I noticed that Firefox had the little "mute tab" icon on the tab. There was no audio when I unmuted it. I have seen this before on commons and meta, but figured hat I must have hit the mute by accident. This time it was a freshly opened tab. Not a problem really, but I am curious; any ideas as to why this happened? --Guy Macon (talk) 23:49, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Could be an add-on you might have in Firefox that preemptively mutes tabs. Or the keys <ctrl>+m may have been pressed accidentally while opening the tab. Lourdes 01:25, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
