John Hussey, 1st Baron Hussey of Sleaford

I have failed when trying to add a file from Commons into the info. box. The file is now at the very top of this page. Sorry. It is of a crest - I also have added a reference which describes crest. That is NOT a crest, it is a coat of arms. I delight in heraldry used in articles where it was clearly relevant to the subject's era; but please get the terminology right. writing an article on Wikipedia

Wikipedia:Your first article is a good place to start. The answer to your "which type" question depends on the subject about which you are interested in writing; if you could quickly explain (just a sentence or two), I could give you a better answer. Hello, Showerman. Your question is not clear; but if you are asking whether you can cite books as references in Wikipedia articles, the answer is certainly yes, provided they are reliably published (published by reputable publishers). Self-published books may be cited in limited cases (see WP:SELFPUB, but book a from publisher with no reputation is probably not going to be regarded as a reliable source, and so should not normally be cited. Please see referencing for beginners for more on this, and how to cite.

If you mean, can you take items from the bibliography of a a book, and cite those directly in a Wikipedia article, the answer is that you should not cite any source unless you have seen it yourself.

Template:PD-shape and stub-templates

Why is PD-shape mentioned on "See also" section of documentation for many stub-templates? For example, on Template:Ornithology-stub#See also or Template:Russia-geo-stub#See also. Alex Spade (talk) 16:03, 12 November 2017 (UTC)

It was added to {{Stub documentation}} by Hyacinth with no explanation.[1] I don't see a reason for it. {{Stub documentation}} has 28436 transclusions which produce section edit links to it. Maybe Hyacinth clicked edit on a page where the link is helpful without realising 28000 other pages would get it. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:03, 12 November 2017 (UTC)

(edit conflict)If this refers to the Wikipedia page Diego Sanchez, he is shown there as still alive. Unfortunately there was some earlier vandalism to the Wiki page which has since been corrected.

If you are referring to the results of a Google search as here Wikipedia has no control over what is displayed there although the way it is shown often implies that it comes from Wikipedia. Hello, Ktsquare. I'm afraid if you are talking about another Wikipedia, then probably no one here can help you. Each language Wikipedia is an independent project, with its own rules and pollcies.

I think that what you are askingis, if a user has mentioned their status as an admin etc on their user page, and they cease to have those permissions, they must remove the claim from their user page? And if they don't may somebody else do so? That's an interesting question. I can't find any policy on the question in English Wikipedia (but as I say, other Wikipedias may have different policies anyway). --ColinFine (talk) 22:19, 12 November 2017 (UTC)

Here at en:wp, we remove such claims, because it produces confusion among those who are looking for someone with those user rights. I don't know what other projects do. Nyttend (talk) 03:42, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Creating new page

I am working in a pgae for the band LAW, The band has a great bio on there website, but almost no other published info. Hello. Is this problem solved now? If not, you can reference their official website if they have enough info about the band. However, you have to be sure the source you're citing meets Wikipedia's policies. Check Wikipedia:Citing sources for more info.

Glen Jacobs

I am making an edit for Glen Jacobs by adding his political party. I think that is necessary considering he is currently running for political office. My edit however, is not showing up on his page. (Referring to edits of Kane (wrestler).) Because the template "Infobox professional wrestler" does not support a field "political party". The infobox templates (like all templates) only support fields they are coded to handle. I suggest you put this in the body of the article instead of infobox. @G Kalpana: This is your only edit from this account so we don't have any idea what you are talking about unless you tell us. As for the image, where did you find this image? If you just found it on the Internet somewhere please do not upload it here. It is most likely copyrighted and uploading it here will result in it being deleted. El Tùnel

Good morning,

I have a very serious issue with the resume of the book El Tùnel from Ernesto Sabàto. Yes, in fact, this is a book that was very much recommended to me and I was looking forward and happy to read it. I get to the Wikipedia page, start reading this resume. And there it is. The spoiler that ruined my appreciation for this novel. You cannot just put the ending of a book in a resume. You stick to the general history, just as in the back of a book. Unfortunately, it is impossible to rewind and forget this ending, which is, by the way, very tragic. But I think it is only fair that I spoil you a very important even in literary history : Dumbledore dies. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and our content guidelines follow the philosophy that it is not acceptable to delete information from an article because one believes it spoils the plot. There is also consensus amongst Wikipedia editors to not include spoiler alerts in articles. Wikipedia's content guidelines on spoilers and on disclaimers in articles has information relevant to your query. May I also request you to go through WP:IMPERSONATE? The strong suggestion is to not edit under a name that is likely to imply that you are (or are related to) a specific, identifiable person, unless it is your real name. If you have the same name as a well-known person to whom you are unrelated, and are using your real name, you should state clearly on your userpage that you are unrelated to the well-known person. If one wishes to read a book without knowing in advance how the plot develops, its a good idea to not read an encyclopedia article about that book, particularly a section of that article entitled "Plot summary."
