October 6[edit]

Ref number 3 - there is no "Publisher": this ref is not quite right at this point. If you can, please check that the referencing is done correctly and leave in the quote. Thankyou. 101.182.55.173 (talk) 02:18, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed However, neither reference at that point in the text can be considered wholly reliable. The other (the first one) is Burke's Peerage and this one seems to be basically a blog. Eagleash (talk) 03:24, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

LEAD Graduate School & Research Network article[edit]

Cheers Community! Last week I first joined Wikipedia & wrote an article about an important institute at my university. Here it is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:LEAD_Graduate_School_%26_Research_Network Now I am not sure, if my draft is already getting checked/reviewed or if I still need to do something to get this article published. Thanks for you help - would be great. Best! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adnyhiwi (talkcontribs) 10:22, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Before worrying about getting it reviewed, there are other very significant issues. The article seems to be largely copied from here which makes it a copyright violation. Wikipedia has a zero tolerance of copyright violations so it will need to be completely re-written in your own words. Even close paraphrasing of the original is not permitted. I would suggest starting again using the article wizard which will automatically provide the inbuilt processes for submitting it for review when it is ready. Hope that this helps  Velella  Velella Talk   11:26, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Cite errors/Cite error ref too many keys[edit]

Name of Article- imdb biography of oghenekaro Itene

Link of article -http://m.imdb.com/name/nm8213179/bio?ref_=m_mn_ov_bio — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kadiamakeovers (talkcontribs) 10:47, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This appears to relate to Oghenekaro Itene. I could not see any cite errors when looking at the page but recent edits are not up to standard. Article will need quite a bit of work to bring it more into line. I have left a welcome message at the OP's TP and also some hopefully useful comments. Eagleash (talk)

Building-Site-Template?[edit]

Dear people,

in the german wikipedia, i do start new articles in my namefield and add a template stating that this is not yet a wikipedia-article, but a building-site. Is there a similar template to add here? {{Baustelle}} ? --Gyanda (talk) 13:30, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The interlanguage links in the left pane of de:Vorlage:Baustelle include an English link to {{Under construction}}. But {{Userspace draft}} sounds better for your purpose. See more at Category:Under-construction templates. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:48, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, you are wonderful, dear PrimeHunter. I had surfed the help-sites, but did not find this. Thank you for the link!!! And yes, userspace draft sounds much better! How kind of you to help me. Thank you!!! --Gyanda (talk) 14:00, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Gyanda: I see you posted my source code in User:Gyanda/Michael Post. You are supposed to post the rendered code without the tl| part. PrimeHunter (talk) 14:54, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, sorry, didn't know this. Will look at it at once! Kind regards, --Gyanda (talk) 15:20, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merge help[edit]

I was browsing through Category:Possible cut-and-paste moves, trying to understand the whole process, and I ran across this redirect. This was not a copy-and-paste as far as I can tell. It looks like it was a stub that was converted to a redirect. But it also doesn't look like it was officially merged - is this a problem? Should I simply tag the talk page of the redirect with {{nahmc|<destination page>}} so that the bot will ignore it, or is it better to do some sort of retroactive merge, since there is a little bit of content on the talk page? Leschnei (talk) 13:41, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The intent behind the decision to redirect was to avoid merging that content into the article. So, it is ok that it is not merged. Ruslik_Zero 20:37, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Ruslik0: So in cases where a redirect is preferable to a merge, the redirect talk page is left as is? And should the nahmc template be used to get the article off of the 'potential cut-and-paste' page? (If the best answer is to do nothing and ignore the cut-and-paste page, I can live with that too. Just trying to understand). Thanks for your help, Leschnei (talk) 20:56, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
When an article is turned into a redirect the talk page usually stays. Ans as this is not a ct-and-paste move then the category should be removed. Ruslik_Zero 20:34, 9 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Photo Upload[edit]

Can I upload a scan of map from Detailed Project Report of a public highway/railway project? The DPR is publicly available to download at government website. For example for Delhi-Panipat RRTS can I upload the map from the DPR available here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ankit2 (talkcontribs) 14:59, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ankit2. I don't see a copyright notice anywhere on the document, so the default assumption must be that it is subject to copyright, and may not be uploaded without an explicit release from the copyright holder. It may be that there is an explicit statement somewhere that publications of the NCRPB are in the public domain (as many publications of the US Federal Government are); but it is up to you to find such a statement. --ColinFine (talk) 17:01, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No one caring my words at "internet censorship in india"[edit]

I contributed lot of data in talk page of internet censorship in india. But no one trying to update the article. I don't want to edit the main article myself. Ram nareshji (talk) 15:16, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ram nareshji. Maybe you will find somebody with the requisite interest and knowledge if you ask at WT:WikiProject India. --ColinFine (talk) 17:02, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Crosskeys Inn Toomebridge County Antrim[edit]

Hi, I hope you can help me. I have just noticed that content which I added to the page was removed. Is there a reason for this? If not is it possible to have the content reinstated? Regards, Vincent — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.154.195.27 (talk) 18:09, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Some material, added this May to Crosskeys Inn by an unregistered user, was deleted in August by JJMC89 as a copyright violation. Wikipedia takes copyright law seriously, and does not allow the use of copyrighted content in articles. Maproom (talk) 18:27, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I just posted a late notice to the article's talk page. — JJMC89(T·C) 18:44, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How can I delete an incorrect link?[edit]

NASA Distinguished Service Medal (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

On the NASA Distinguished Service Medal Page for 1969 there is a link to a page for John F. Clark - this guy is a US Marshall and has nothing to do with NASA - this link needs to be removed and I cannot figure out how to remove it... — Preceding unsigned comment added by MickieB (talkcontribs) 18:57, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@MickieB: Please provide a link to pages you refer to on talk pages or here at the help desk. The link seems incorrect as the page for John F. Clark does refer to a US Marshall and does not appear to mention a NASA connection. To remove the link to the Wiki page, remove the square brackets. To remove the entry altogether, just delete the text...although there is always the possibility that there is another person of the same name who does hold the medal. Please sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 19:15, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@MickieB:@Eagleash:The 3rd External link on the Award's page is a NASA list of all NASA awards, and shows that a John F. Clark did work for NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Centre, and did receive this award (he'd won a different one a few years earlier, too). However, he's clearly not the JFC with a Wikipedia article who, though possibly eligible for the award through his employment ("The medal may be presented to any member of the federal government, including both military astronauts and civilian employees.") was from his article's photo clearly too young to have been receiving such awards in the 1960s. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.217.210.199 (talk) 20:25, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks; I hadn't spotted that. I've gone ahead and removed the wikilink. Whether a redlink (with disamb.) is appropriate, I'm not certain. Eagleash (talk) 20:33, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted changes[edit]

I am trying to make updates to the information on the School District of Palm Beach County page and links are being reverted. How do I update the pages? SDPBC (talk) 19:13, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As you appear from your username to have a conflict of interest, you should not update School District of Palm Beach County at all. If you are aware of errors in the article, you should request the updates you recommend on the article's talk page, preferably giving references for any content you want added. Using a website written in a foreign language as a reference[edit]

Is it OK in English Wikipedia to use a website written in a foreign language as a reference ?--Penbat (talk) 19:27, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, so long as the website is otherwise an acceptable source. Sources in English are preferred, but sources on other languages are certainly acceptable. Maproom (talk) 19:30, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict):Yes, the relevant policy is at WP:NOENG. Basically if you have two sources, one in english and the other not, the english is preferred, but it is quite reasonable to use only those in a foreign language if that is all you have.Naraht (talk) 19:31, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. --Penbat (talk) 21:01, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I need help providing more of a rationale against deletion about The Refugees[edit]

‪Hi, RA0808, I just need someone to help me provide more of a rationale against deletion than simply saying that I created the article about The Refugees (female folk trio) and it shouldn't be deleted. Thank you.

~~88ui7~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88ui7 (talkcontribs) 20:34, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • The best non-delete rationale is to show that the band as a whole (and not the individual members) has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the band. If you can do that, then say so and list those sources in the article. If you can't, then the article doesn't meet our inclusion criteria. CrowCaw 20:38, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Citation errors at Foxes discography[edit]

There are two "missing closing ref tag" errors in the studio albums section (table) of Foxes discography. I have tried and tried to figure out how to solve this, and absolutely cannot. Can someone else (and clue me in as to what I missed)? Thanks! Jessicapierce (talk) 20:51, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • First part looks to be down in Ref UKA1 and Ref IRE, seems to be some missing/repeated data. CrowCaw 20:58, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Second one too, Ref UKA1 opens a Cite Web but doesn't close before opening a second Cite Web. CrowCaw 20:59, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The reference "UKA1" (which was empty) had no closing </ref>, which messed with the following ref – the one that defined "IRE". That caused the repeated invocations of IRE to become undefined. Dairy{talk} 01:36, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much! Jessicapierce (talk) 19:49, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to create Miguel Paredes Wikipedia[edit]

I am trying to create Miguel Paredes Wikipedia

I need some help because I have most of his info from his web page He is a very well know artist here in Miami Also in NY and now in Japan He has won many awards

I don't know how to enter the reference or the external links or a table of context

Can someone help me create this — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saramolano (talkcontribs) 21:10, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If Miguel Paredes is a well-known artist, then we need references to articles about him in reliable sources not connected to Paredes. We don't care what he has to say about himself; we care what third parties have to say. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:55, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to create Miguel Paredes Wikipedia and I try to upload one of his art and I couldn't[edit]

I tried uploading a picture of his art and didnt let me..I have the right for the picture — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saramolano (talkcontribs) 21:35, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you claim you own the copyright for a picture by Miguel Paredes? --Orange Mike | Talk 21:53, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
