I assume that you will receive a poor grade on whatever homework content you submit unless you work on improving your use of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization.--Thomprod (talk) 14:07, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help on a new addition

[edit]

Did I mess up on editing this? I'm not sure why it's not showing up on Wikipedia. I will have to check the editing FAQs further later, but right now, I am trying to see if I did something wrong here in getting it to show publicly.

Thank you!

You haven't yet submitted it for AFC review. To do so you would add {{subst:submit}} to the top of the draft, but before you do that, please read the advice at WP:Your first article. You need independent reliable sources; pages published by the subject organisation do not establish notability. --David Biddulph (talk) 17:50, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm on the Board of Directors for the Bisexual Resource Center. Kate Estrop is no longer the president of the BRC and I made edits to update the information to the correct person. Jessica (Belle) Silverman became president last year in 2018. I don't understand why my changes were marked as unconstructive. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.115.159.54 (talk) 19:45, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

To other editors, it appeared as if a random person went on to the article about your organization and just put in a person's name as president, as no reliable source was provided. We have no way of knowing if you are on the Board or not(I certainly believe you, just saying). As you have a conflict of interest, you should not edit the article directly, but you may make an edit request(click that link for instructions) on the article talk page(Talk:Bisexual Resource Center). 331dot (talk) 19:49, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It was the removal of an outdated reference that triggered the reversal of your edit and made it look dubious. We get a lot of anonymous edits adding random names, but your edit was obviously genuine. I've re-done the edit for you. Dbfirs 20:17, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdgover (talkcontribs) 23:08, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your problem was that you had tried to use <ref name=":3"/> before the reflist but you didn't define <ref name=":3"> until after the reflist. I've fixed it in this edit. You still have a bit of a tangle with further references called up after the reflist, but I'll leave you to sort those out yourself. - David Biddulph (talk) 00:03, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Another problem which you'll need to resolve before you resubmit your draft for AFC review is that you have many misplaced external links within the article text. --David Biddulph (talk) 00:33, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Editing the title of an article?

[edit]

The California State University Emeritus and Retired Faculty Association recent voted to change its name to The California State University Emeritus and Retired Faculty & Staff Association.

I would like to edit the current article to reflect the recent change of name and expansion of membership eligibility. However, the editor does not seem to provide an option to modify the title of an article. Should I just copy the existing article to a new article with the new name of the organization, then ask to have the old article deleted.

What's the best way to proceed? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
