How do I add a new word and definition that has never been used before?[edit]

I am the founder of Coreism (Core~ism) art.I discovered it in 2013 and have produced artwork based on the understanding.

CAMELOT BROADWAY[edit]

I don't know much about Wikipedia--this is a help comment, not a question, I lived in the D.C. area back in the 60's and I took a date to the National Theatre in Wash. D.C. for the Camelot Musical with Yvonne De Carlo and Arthur Treacher. After the Camelot Broadway production ended, the sets were transported to the National Theatre in D.C.--it was a wonderful production--not sure of the date we attended the production/play, but noticed on the Camelot entries the National Theatre production wasn't mentioned---so maybe you can contact the person who edited that wikipidea/camelot musical site and maybe add the National Theatre production.

Number near edits[edit]

Global user page[edit]

Is there any way to show my user page on English Wikipedia on every Wikipedia? I know that my user page on Meta is my global user page. But some templates and links(articles etc.) don't exist on Meta. So I want to use my English wiki user page as global user page. I also want to know how to transclude a template from English wiki to other wikis. If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{u|Masumrezarock100}} to your message, and signing it. @Masumrezarock100: You could copy some of your user page code to Special:ExpandTemplates to produce the resulting wikitext without templates. This can be copied to meta. Some things may render differently but most will be the same. Wikilinks with no interwiki prefix will go to meta and often be red. Place w: or en: in front of a link to go to the English Wikipedia, e.g. [[w:Kolkata|]] which transforms to [[w:Kolkata|Kolkata]] on save. You cannot place the meta page in Wikipedia categories but you can link the categories with the same method. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:46, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to move an article from Draft to main space and for review?[edit]

hi,

I had published an article a few days back which has been nominated for speedy deletion and deleted after that. Then I edited a new article which is still showing in Drafts name: The Rug Republic. I want this draft to move into the main space and want to send this for review. However, I am unable to find any option to do so. Please help me out. Hi Amalik.1705. This is not the Help desk, it's the talk page for the Help desk, intended for discussing the operation of the Help Desk. But I can answer you question anyway.
I assume you refer to Draft:The Rug Republic. It is blatantly promotion, and does nothing to establish that its subject is notable. It cites no references at all. If it is reviewed it will certainly be rejected, and if it is moved to main space it's likely to be deleted.
If you are here to improve Wikipedia, you should find a task that's much easier than trying to create a new article on a non-notable topic. If your purpose is to promote The Rug Republic, you should be aware that Wikipedia is not to be used for promotion; and instead use a site such as Facebook where promotion is permitted. @Amlik.1705: The page has been deleted again as promotional (Wikipedia cannot accept promotional material) and also as copy-violation, which is something else that Wikipedia takes very seriously. If you here merely to promote a business or similar concern, you will not be succesful and would be better off using something like LinkedIn. Copy-vio and editing outside of Wiki's goals can easily lead to the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 10:10, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Cillaryan: Hello, I cannot see that the page states this (or that any recent revisions have done so). Are you seeing the results of a 'Google' search? Google often displays information in a side panel in a way that implies the information comes from Wikipedia. There is a link at the foot of the panel where you can report errors.

@David Biddulph: Australian Dictionary of Biography reference covers William Scott Fell and David Fell. The source says that WSF was survived by his wife and that DF was survived by his second wife. However an online search for WSF's gravestone suggests that @Cillaryan: is correct and ADNB is not.TSventon (talk) 11:31, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Image Requests[edit]

I added an Image to the page Esk River (Queensland) yesterday. It still appear in the "add an image" category on the community page. Is this just because it takes sometime to update these things, or is there something I can/should do to fix this? (I read the relevant how to pages but I still can't figure it out. Changing a company's old Logo for a New version[edit]

Hi, How do I change the Logo for the company I work for, Guayaki Sustainable Rainforest products Inc.? The image seems to live within an Infobox template which does not seem to let me edit the current image. Hello Colegagreg. I do not recommend uploading the image to Commons, because Commons does not allow Non-free content such as logos. Instead I recommend using Wikipedia:Files for upload to request someone else upload and replace the image. Also, since you work for the company, please be aware that you have a conflict of interest regarding that article. Colegagreg It's actually considered rude to remove others' comments at the help desk and teahouse, especially when that person is trying to help you. And it makes more work for others who won't know that I answered your request for help at Guayakí (company), and uploaded the new logo for you. I'll assume good faith and assume it was a mistake. User:Tigraan thank you for letting me know. If the company does want to release it as a Commons-compatible license, how would they go about that? Is that what Microsoft has done on WP? Their Logo is an SVG file. From a technical perspective the use of SVG files is infinitely more helpful for any researcher than any raster file will ever be. The fact that SVGs are technically superior is precisely the reason they are disallowed by WP:NFCC. My understanding is that NFCC is about making using non-free files on WP as painful as possible, in order to (1) push editors to use free files whenever possible, (2) push copyright holders to loosen their licenses (as current practice stands, BigCorp's IP department has zero incentive to release any of their material under a free license even if such release would expose them to infinitesimal risk compared to the benefit of the community at large; saying "our Wikipedia article has a pixelated logo" is an incentive to change that mentality), and (3) show to courts and copyright trolls that we are awfully serious about respecting copyright.
As for the Microsoft logo, see the licensing at File:Microsoft_logo_(2012).svg: it is too simple to be copyrighted (see threshold of originality). I am 99% sure the Guayaki logo meets the threshold, and 100% sure that if it does not, the licensing page should be changed (from "it's a logo in low-res" to "it doesn't meet the threshold"). Copyright is full of weird and horrible quirks like that. I am in no way an expert, but you pick up a few things when fielding questions at the Teahouse. Was I a bit elastic interpreting the WP image use policy? it reads: "Drawings, icons, logos, maps, flags and other such images are preferably uploaded in SVG format as vector images. Images with large, simple, and continuous blocks of color which are not available as SVG should be in PNG format." WP:IUP#FORMAT. And i also read in the image use policy that "high resolution"is encouraged WP:FILESIZE.

@Colegagreg: Well, the Oracle logo licensing page was wrong. I corrected it, and will eat my hat if that gets reverted.
Basically, it is a norm priority problem. If an image is copyrighted, the law tells you not to use it except in certain cases, no matter what Wikipedia guidelines say. If your intended use of a copyrighted image is legal (on Wikipedia, this means 99.99% of the time "covered by fair use"), you still have to comply with WP:NFCC, "a Wikipedia policy with legal considerations", whose #3b forces you to use a crappy (low-res, raster) version. If the image is free, NFCC doesn't apply, but you still need to comply with other applicable guidelines (for instance, do not upload private photographs of persons taken without their consent even if it's legal). Finally, if you checked all the policy boxes, then you can move on to the technical aspects - which do tell you to use SVG if possible, high-res if not, etc.
So in the case at hand, swap it with a png per WP:PIFU (jpg is a compression standard designed for photographs, so it creates weird image artifacts for artificial images with sharp edges such as a logo). TigraanClick here to contact me 18:59, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In the meantime, I am curious to the fate of the Oracle logo. I also noted Apple Inc [[1]] uses an SVG, so does Cadillac [[2]]. I'm not sure now what to do. How do I pursue this further? @Colegagreg: About the "rules", the only hard and fast rules are that your country's laws are superior to whatever the WMF says (source: ask the cops) and whatever the WMF says is superior to everything else in Wikipedia (NFCC is one of those), but all the rest is subject to varying degrees of consensus. I am 100% sure that NFCC trumps every other guideline, how-to page, essay etc. I am also pretty sure that you should not take a picture of your neighbour's kids and use it to illustrate the article child even if your photo is artistically and technically outstanding, but that's the kind of thing you should consider case-by-case.

About the logos: the Apple logo is correctly tagged as not meeting the threshold of originality. The Cadillac logo is a big mess (is it a real svg, or a png embedded inside a svg, or something? and does it even meet the threshold of originality (I think yes but that's not clear to me)?), probably worth a WP:FFD. Note that you do not need to clean those yourself - if sorting out copyright problems is your thing, go for it, otherwise, you don't need to bother.

I would rather than you clean the Guayaki logo stuff yourself because I am a slacker I prefer hanging around the Teahouse that doing actual article or file cleaning stuff, but again, you are not forced to do so. TigraanClick here to contact me 20:01, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tigraan, as far as that logo being in SVG format, doesn't this language from Wikipedia:Non-free content imply that SVG is (at least sometimes) acceptable?

For a vector image (i.e. SVG) of a non-free logo or other design, US law is not clear as to whether the vectorization of the logo has its own copyright which exists in addition to any copyright on the actual logo. To avoid this uncertainty, editors who upload vector images of non-free logos should use a vector image that was produced by the copyright holder of the logo and should not use a vector image from a site such as seeklogo.com where the vectorization of a logo may have been done without authorization from the logo's copyright holder.

Watch list[edit]

Today I keep getting repeated changes in my Watchlist for things I have already looked at (not necessarily by going to the page, but by setting "Mark all changes as seen". Then I come back in an hour or so and the same changes are back. This just started today. Has anyone else noticed this. MB 22:53, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
