Html table help[edit]

Not even sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm working on getting Carlos Kleiber discography up to FL standard and at the moment I'm not sure how to format the table for a certain section: Under "Live Recordings" there are entries for Mahler and Mozart both in 1967 (from the same concert) but I think it would make more sense to combine the release section for these entries somehow but I'm really not sure what that would look like. Any ideas? (Also the formatting for entries after Mahler is inconsistent with the above at the moment, so don't take note of that!) Aza24 (talk) 00:48, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Aza24, are you thinking of having the year share the same cell? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 04:09, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Aza24: If so, you would do so by changing the first:
| 1967
to:
| rowspan="2" | 1967
(for Mahler) and then removing the second | 1967 (19 lines later; for Mozart). This says that you want to repeat that first value for the next row. I wouldn't say it's necessary when you only have a single occurence of a value that needs to span multiple rows. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 06:53, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Tenryuu and AlanM1: Thank you both! I think that should work fine. Aza24 (talk) 20:55, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

creating an historical wikipedia page[edit]

Good afternoon, I am after some advice on how to create an historical Wikipedia page on a company called Maric Flow Control; Can you advise me what is invloved in doing this and does this cost anything to do so? Regards, Philip Maric Flow Control South Australia — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.122.230.148 (talk) 05:42, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that your signed name suggests that you are employed by the organisation. This means you need an account must declare that on your user page prior to the draft article being reviewed and migrated to be an article. you also must use WP:AFC as you route in
You need to perform research. There are many essays on how to create decent articles on Wikipedia. This is one I wrote.
Find excellence of referencing, Marshall the facts in the references into a storyboard, and write the draft based on that storyboard, using the references as citations. Read WP:REFB and WP:CITE
Creating an article is the hardest thing to do on Wikipedia and required mature neutrality. If you feel as an employee that you cannot do that please do not even start Fiddle Faddle 09:28, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requests to edits have not been answered on multiple talk sections of pages[edit]

Hi, I requested edits and initiated chat on talk pages on Jazz Pakistan, JazzCash, Mobilink, Warid and Warid Telecom to add more relevant information keeping it as non-promotional as possible while also requesting removal of some old misleading/irrelevant information keeping in mind that some information is still relevant no matter its past.

While I have been answered on some of the aforementioned pages and some of my edits have been incorporated but rest have not been answered, specially on Jazz Pakistan. The last edits I made were straightforward reversed without being read thoroughly, I also proposed them on talk their talk pages but I have not gotten any response. I understand that there may be some issue when adding e.g. when listing Products and Services and its against Wikipedia's T&C but not all edits proposed should've been reversed.

Edits proposed on Jazz Pakistan talk section can be seen here, there is no response after 27th July.

Proposed changes on Mobilink article talk section are visible here, there is no response after 27th July.

Also proposed changes on Warid Pakistan talk section here, received no help after 27th July.

Requested changes on Warid Telecom but got removed on being promotional, while some part may look promotional rest should've been added. Here are the changes I made. And so the case with JazzCash article.

It would be helpful if someone could answer on aforementioned talk pages and redo my edits visible in edit history by my name. Thank You. Talhatauqeer (talk) 08:03, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry no one has gotten around to your edit requests yet. As the request edit template says, "The requested edits backlog is very high. Please be extremely patient." If you look at the requested edits category, the oldest one is from June 11, and there are quite a few older than yours. The reality of Wikipedia is that we are all volunteers, we each work on whatever grabs our interest, and responding appropriately to edit requests from people with a conflict of interest can be a time consuming process and is one that requires a high level of skill in analyzing sources, working with content, and dealing diplomatically with people who have a COI. It is not a task that many people are well suited for or interested in. Honestly, I'm impressed it isn't worse than it is, given the status of some of our other backlogs around here. I see @Zoozaz1: has helped you with edit requests on Talk:Jazz (company) before, perhaps they would be willing to take a look at these additional ones. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 15:55, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Talhatauqeer, I think the reason the changes are taking so long is that you are implementing them without specifying on the talk page the changes you want to be made, only linking a version where editors can't see the specific changes you made. Zoozaz1 (talk) 03:09, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Donation[edit]

Please keep the minimum amount of money donation from 0. So that every little sent can be helpful. That little money everyone will send will become a huge amount too. Many people in India will not be able to give 118rs that is the minimum amount, but many millions can give you 10-20rs as donation. So please look into it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.176.65.83 (talk) 08:56, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your interest in donating. Please see WP:DONATE for information about donating and how to contact the Wikimedia Foundation, who manages donations. We here at the individual WMF projects have no involvement with it. If there is a minimum, it's likely because there is a cost to processing donations, and it would not be helpful to anyone (except the payment processors) to donate Rs.20 if the payment processor charges Rs.50 to process it. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 09:07, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I also have read on the Wikipedia/Wikimedia donation pages at some point in the past (but cannot find that page) that small payments are used by credit card scammers to check a stolen card info is valid. Setting a minimum donation amount therefore discourages such "donations", though I am not sure why this is useful (maybe because most of these eventually get refunded to the bank once the card theft is reported?). Requesting another opinion on a source[edit]

There's a discussion at Talk:Kylian Mbappé#Semi-protected edit request on 4 August 2020 about the reliability of this Sports Illustrated article: [1]. Would it be okay to say that Mbappe's running speed has been clocked at 44.7 km/h? Another pair of eyes would be appreciated.  Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 13:17, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The plot is not written according to wikipedia's guidelines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.79.60.155 (talk) 15:11, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, please feel free to improve the article or if you do not feel comfortable doing so please discuss the changes at the article talk page. See Template:Request edit for how to request changes. If any factual changes are required you will need to supply reliable sources. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 15:31, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have cut the editiorializing and unsourced opinion content from the plot section. The article needs more sources to establish notability and source additional content. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 15:41, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Contribution value[edit]

Greetings, long ago I saw a template (most probably, or a script) somewhere that shows an editor's contribution value in currency. Most probably it was a calculation from edit count. "This editor's contribution to Wikipedia is worth of $$". I can not find this page/template now. If you know/can remember, kindly let me know. Regards. --Titodutta (talk) 16:19, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think it may have been this one? It's not specific to the individual user, but rather Wikipedia as a whole. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 19:15, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is currently valued at 760 million dollars (and increasing).what!?

Something or other[edit]

Stage Name:marleyboy career:artist date of birth:2005 place of birth:akwa ibom native name:amanim john enang — Preceding unsigned comment added by 105.112.55.226 (talk) 17:32, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

We don't appear to have an article about (or even mentioning) Marleyboy, so there is nowhere for that information to go. If you think we should have an article about him, then somebody could write one, provided he meets Wikipedia's criteria for notability - most performers in the world do not. Generally this requires that at least three people who have no connection with Marleyboy, and not prompted or fed information from him, have chosen to write about him, and been published somewhere with a reputation for editorial control and fact checking. That means that nothing said, written or published by him or his associates, nothing based on interviews or press releases, and nothing in social media, blogs, forums or wikis, will count towards notability. Category: Films set in [year][edit]

For articles about movies filmed in a specific year (e.g: 1912), is it proper to also include 'Category:Films set in (e.g: 1912)' -- specifically: Saved from the Titanic? To me, "set in" implies a non-contemporary setting. --2606:A000:1126:28D:99CE:F64A:28BB:E9C7 (talk) 20:28, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I'm understanding your question, but filmed in and set in are different things, so the dates in the categories don't have to match. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 23:37, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Building off of TimTempleton's answer, including the "set in" category is fine, even if it seems redundant in that given situation. Someone might be looking for a film set in 1912 and that would be pertinent information to allow them to find said film. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:08, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify: for a contemporary film released today, would you state that it was "set in 2020"? Likewise, would a film produced in 1912 about a 1912 event be "set in 1912"? --2606:A000:1126:28D:99CE:F64A:28BB:E9C7 (talk) 04:53, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Not necessarily. Many films span an indeterminate time span that can include several years. Unless the year in which the story is set is made unambiguously clear within context, or you can cite a reliable source for that information, I would cautious about claiming it was set in any specific year.--Shantavira|feed me 07:53, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kamala Harris page[edit]

Can someone fix this please?

Template:Alabama (band) 1977–1989 singles[edit]

There's something odd with this navbox template – clicking on the View, Talk, or Edit tabs takes you to create Template:Alabama (band) 1977–1989 singles keo day roecehi instead. Anybody know what's up with this and how to fix it? Thanks. Richard3120 (talk) 21:02, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Richard3120. It was vandalism to the template last October(!). I've reverted it, but there's no point in putting a warning on the IP's talk page, because it's unlikely that the same person will use that IP address. --ColinFine (talk) 21:59, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@ColinFine: thank you very much. I suspected that vandalism was involved, but I couldn't find out how to get rid of it. Richard3120 (talk) 22:13, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I just opened the template for edit, and it was obvious what had been inserted where. Then I looked at its history, and found that had been inserted by an IP last year. --ColinFine (talk) 22:42, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

MV Rhosus[edit]

Sorry, I renamed the article to Rhosus (schip, 1986) according the Dutch Wikipedia. Was not aware that I was worming in the English version. Could not reverse it myself. Please undo the renaming. --Stunteltje (talk) 21:32, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
