July 1[edit]

Archiving error[edit]

Something strange seems to have happened with the archiving on Talk:Aberfan disaster; there's no Archive 2, 3 or 4, and the archive skips straight to Archive 5, which was created by User:Lowercase sigmabot III in 2017 by archiving lots of threads en masse. (Archive 1 was manually archived in 2010, and contains a single thread started by Jimbo.) The effect of this is that Template:Talk header is only displaying Archive 1 because it assumes the others don't exist, and so archived threads appear to be disappearing into the ether.

What's the right way to fix this? Is it to move the archives to the sequential numbers? Or to modify the header template somehow? (I should say, I've never edited the article or talk page, to my knowledge; I just stumbled upon the issue while clicking aimlessly.) YorkshireLad  ✿  (talk) 00:01, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

SchroCat originally set up archiving with a wrong value |counter = 5.[1] This tells the bot to start with archive 5. I have moved Talk:Aberfan disaster/Archive 5 to Talk:Aberfan disaster/Archive 1, added the single thread from the original archive 1 [2], moved Talk:Aberfan disaster/Archive 6 to Talk:Aberfan disaster/Archive 2, and set |counter = 2 [3] so the bot will continue archive 2 next time. Bangladesh Liberation War[edit]

This article seems provide wrong information about victory, it saying "Result : Indian Victory", that should be "Bangladeshi-Indian or Indian-Bangladeshi Alliance Victory", I am trying to give reference from daily news paper and even Lieutenant General Jacob (Commander, Eastern Command) interview . reference are not limited but including:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangladesh_Liberation_War
https://archive.thedailystar.net/suppliments/2009/december/victorydayspecial/page01.htm
https://www.indiatimes.com/lifestyle/self/the-pakistan-instrument-of-surrender-in-1971-was-signed-by-my-grandfather-s-pen-248456.html
https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g293936-d12694198-i294875224-Independence_Museum-Dhaka_City_Dhaka_Division.html

Video Interview : Commander, Eastern Command https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_uD_OVQ-Lo

This was a war of independence of Bangladesh where India assisted and enter at last phase, even instrument of surrender says

"The PAKISTAN Eastern Command agree to surrender all PAKISTAN Armed Forces in BANGLA DESH to Lieutenant-General JAGJIT SINGH AURORA, General Officer Commanding in Chief of Indian and BANGLA DESH forces in the Eastern Theater"

It is painful for Bangladeshi people give away credit Indians while 26 March to 03 December we fought only ourselves. Even Bangladesh air force (Kilo Flight) successfully raided their oil and logistics before Indian declared war and played vital role ground close air support. Hence, Indian victory is a partial statement, It should be Indian and Bangladeshi Victory. Please edit this and make info completely credible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 'JamanK' (talkcontribs) 06:20, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The place to make this suggestion is Talk:Bangladesh_Liberation_War. -- Hoary (talk) 07:35, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Threat to block me from editing[edit]

Hello, Would someone be good enough to explain to me whom I can contact to resolve the fact that someone seems to be operating under the misapprehension that I have edited a Wikipedia page which I have never even visited. This is the message that I received: [4]

Many thanks!

Bonnmusik (talk) 13:26, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Bonnmusik: the message you linked was left on the talk page of the IP of an unregistered user, who did insert a spam link here. If you did not insert the link, you do not need to be concerned about the message. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 13:30, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Note the box on User talk:92.40.169.150 which says: "This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users." Super Bowl LIX Article[edit]

What No Super Bowl LIX Article They were suppose to Announce The Location For Super Bowl LIX this year but it has not happened Because of the Coronavirus pandemic that has no end in sight (Redacted) 68.102.42.216 (talk) 16:06, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Did you say anything? Victor Schmidt (talk) 16:12, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Super Bowl LIX is in 2025, and doesn't even have a location yet- far too early to be creating the article about it. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:27, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The IP said enough (in the text which you redacted) to show that he still hasn't learned any civility during all the time that he has been editing under that and other IP addresses and using the same sort of language, and that therefore he deserves no help, even if he had actually asked a question. --David Biddulph (talk) 16:29, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Keeping from speedy deletion[edit]

I've got a wealth of information to put into a description for my submission. And numerous links to add to show just cause for having a Wikipedia article. Will I be allowed some time to get this properly managed?

  • If you create it in Draft space, there's no deadline, and no risk of speedy deletion unless it is defamatory, or a copyright violation. To start it in Draft space, go to WP:AFC and click the blue button. CrowCaw 16:28, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Magnumcharger: I took a look at Draft:John Petrie (drag racer), and it looks like your first attempt to create a draft was deleted because of copyright infringement. Make sure you write about Petrie in your own words; do not copy large blocks of text from any other work about him. —C.Fred (talk) 16:32, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Magnumcharger. Have you read your first article. I recommend you do so before you plunge into probably the most difficult task in editing Wikipedia: creating a new article. --ColinFine (talk) 16:46, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation[edit]

Hello! I have created the page Lady Midnight (artist) - should I now change the page Lady Midnight to Lady Midnight (novel) and create a disambiguation page? There are many more pages that link to Lady Midnight so I am not sure if it is the "primary topic". I appreciate any help on this subject! Thank you, Terasaface (talk) 21:15, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Terasaface, I don't think there are enough related pages for a disambiguation page, so, for now, I've added a template to the top of the Lady Midnight page linking to the artist. Hope that helps :) Ed6767 talk! 00:12, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That is great,Ed6767, thank you ! Terasaface (talk) 01:22, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
