PMID error[edit]

"-". PMID 33022132. {{cite journal}}: Cite journal requires |journal= (help) – The CS1 help page says PMIDs have to be less than 33000000 (33 million) yet this publication is 33022132. Is the template outdated, or is this (functional) link wrong? Nixinova T C 03:37, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to undo a sequence of unacceptable edits?[edit]

An anonymous user has today (11 Oct 2020) made 11 unacceptable edits to page ISO 3166-1. Rather than undo each of them individually, I'd like to revert the page to its state prior to those edits. Do I have the power to do that? If yes, how do I do it? If no, please could someone else do it. Thanks. Misha Wolf (talk) 14:28, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Misha Wolf, you can use the "rollback" features of either Wikipedia:RedWarn or Wikipedia:Twinkle, which will revert all consecutive edits by an editor. In the page history, you can click the timestamp of the revision which will take you to a copy of the page at that time. Then, click edit and then publish, which will restore the older revision. You can also use the "prev" button instead to open a diff and use the "restore this revision" feature of the aforementioned tools. Ed talk! 14:41, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I would like to create new pages regarding some industries in my country. It is not covered at all in wikipedia and I would like to have pages regarding the industry itself and the founders and contributers. @Iranindustrial: Welcome and thanks. We want articles on any subject that is notable by our definition: see WP:N. For any specific company, that company must be separately notable to have a separate article, and for any individual, that individual must be separately notable. For each articel, you must therefore find a few high-quality references in reliable sources: see WP:RS and WP:CSMN. This is the one crucial step: do not skip it. What format is the www Main Page[edit]

I have a question regarding the Main Page. I am NOT talking about the Main Page of English Wikipedia, but I am talking about the www Main Page, which is https://www.wikipedia.org. That is the page which shows all the languages of Wikipedia and the search bar. It doesn't appear to be in a page format, like Special:Search. There is no Page Name at the top, so I am wondering, what format is the www Main Page written in? Is it written in wikitext, or is it just uneditable HTML? I am just curious what format the www Main Page is written in, so please let me know if possible. --Gioguch (talk) 19:21, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Gioguch:I'm not sure what you mean by "uneditable". Your browser can save a local copy of that page on your computer and you can then edit that HTML source with a text editor. It's possible, even likely, that the HTML was created using some Website builder or other tool by someone on the WMF development staff, in which case that may be some sort of "source" from which it was generated, but there is no particular reason that this should be made available to users. -Arch dude (talk) 20:33, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Pages" means that they are actual pages, like the search is the page Special:Search. is the front page a "Page"? @Gioguch: the word "page" has multiple meanings. Special "pages" are (mostly) generated on the fly by the Mediawiki software, possibly using PHP or some other backend. There is no reason to believe that the https://www.wikipedia.org "page" is anything other than a static HTML page that is unrelated to the MediaWiki software. In particular, as far as I know each of the language Wikipedias is a separate instance of a Mediawiki wiki, as is each of the other types of Wiki run by the WMF. There is no evidence that the https://www.wikipedia.org page is part of any Wiki. -Arch dude (talk) 21:59, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Case-insensitive page names[edit]

I know that pages on Wikipedia are case sensitive, except for the first letter or the namespace prefix (which doesn't count as part of the page name.) For example, Wikipedia:Why create an account? and Wikipedia:WhY CreAte aN acCoUnT? are unequivalent. However, it seems that special pages break this rule. Ok, so "Special:" has a capital S and the first letter after the prefix needs to be capitalized. However, it seems that the entire page name of any special page is case-insensitive, for example: Special:CreateAccount and Special:CreAteacCoUNt are equivalent.
