[edit]Interview an Editor
[edit]I teach a university class titled Technology and Social Change.
I am looking for an editor to talk with during class time.
I have no agenda or goal and am open to any subject area. Can you help me?
Dave/ Daveathumboldtedu (talk) 05:41, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, Dave,
- Depending on what you are looking for, you might contact Wikipedia:Education program. They are set up to deal with instructors and classroom situations. They have a lot of experience from the Wikimedia Foundation side of this process. They are more familiar with these kinds of inquiries.
- Or, maybe an editor will respond here and that's all you are looking for. Liz Read! Talk! 05:47, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Daveathumboldtedu: You might want to specify the general things you want to interview the editor about, to screen the guest. Everyone can speak about their own feelings/place in Wikipedia etc. but if (say) you asked me about the inner history of how Wikipedia was created I would not be able to answer. - IannoneM Your edit request is pending; edit requests are reviewed by volunteers who do what they can when they can, you will need to be patient. Wikipedia has no deadlines and to be frank(I apologize) Wikipedia is not concerned with any deadlines you might be under. If you have an association with iHeartMedia, you must review conflict of interest and paid editing for information on required disclosures you must make. 331dot (talk) 13:42, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
Removal of information
[edit]Hello
I am searching for help on ways to have my information removed from a wikipedia post. It is under Marc Andreessen Can this be done? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MarcAndresse (talk • contribs)
- MarcAndresse Please go to Talk:Marc Andreessen and make a formal edit request(go to this page for instructions), detailing the changes you feel are needed. 331dot (talk) 14:45, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- MarcAndresse Before making your request, you may wish to read WP:BLP. For all articles on Wikipedia, we do not remove relevant information that has been published in reliable sources. However the standards for the reliability of the source and the relevance are more rigorous for information about a living person, and editors are encouraged to be more aggressive about removing information that does not meet these standards. If you think such info fails to meet these standards, this is one of the very few cases where an editor with a WP:COI is permitted to remove the information directly, by editing the article. However, I would still use the formal edit request instead, unless it is very clear that the information must be removed. -Arch dude (talk) 15:05, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

TagPro.com
[edit]--Tagpro1 (talk) 16:08, 20 August 2021 (UTC)Good Day,
My name is Florin Pope and I am the Founder and CEO of Tagpro.com and not to be mistaken for Tagpro.gg. Our company holds the trademarks for Tagpro and would like to discuss the content that is currently on your platform that belongs to Tagpro.gg. Our goal is to provide our users with the correct content representing Tagpro.com. How can we correctly address TagPro.com and remove Tagpro.gg? I provided you with the links to our trademarks for your reference.

Off the subject, I'm glad to see that Wikipedia is still active. Ive been donating on a monthly bases for over 2 years. tagpro.com

- That content does not belong to Tagpro.gg and nothing precludes an article for both .com and .gg existing. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 16:11, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Tagpro1: We evaluate the notability of the subject of each article. If only one of these companies is notable, we could have an article on only that one company. If both companies are notable, we could have a separate article for each company. If neither company is notable, neither company should have an article. If an article has incorrect information due to confusion of the two companies, (e.g., an incorrect logo) we can fix the article. -Arch dude (talk) 17:31, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Tagpro1: It's kind of you to make donations to the Wikimedia Foundation, but it has no bearing on the editing that volunteers do on Wikipedia. Before creating an article about a company, editors determine whether the company meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, called "notability". Once an article is created, the company may not edit it directly, due to concerns about conflict of interest. GoingBatty (talk) 17:46, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty and Arch dude: I think this post is referring to the TagPro article, there seem to be a couple of websites hosting the game and I think OP's complaint is that the infobox link in the article is to a unofficial copy? The PC gamer article used as a reference in the article gives the URL as http://tagpro.koalabeast.com, but this isn't a topic I know enough about to make an informed comment. 192.76.8.74 (talk) 19:18, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- It seems to me that Tagpro1 wants the Wikipedia article TagPro article to be about his company instead of the game. However, if there's a concern about one of the links in the article, Talk:TagPro is the place to bring that up. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 19:27, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- I just changed the .gg url to the redirected final target. I'm not seeing enough sources to suggest Tagpro Technologies would qualify for an article. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 23:08, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- And as a courtesy FYI, editor has already been alerted about the username violation. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 23:10, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

- Hi, Florin, the links didn't work for me, but I found that registration 88458701 (2019) is for "Connecting qualified service providers with consumers ... in the field(s) of home renovation for commercial purposes." IANAL, but if USA is anything like Australia, then trademarks are scoped to a specific industry or field of application. So having a trade mark for "TagPro" in home renovation doesn't stop someone else using the term in the field of online games. Plus the game's use of the name (2013) predates yours. ⁓ Pelagic ( messages ) 13:15, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
Incorporating Infox building into Infobox company
[edit]Hi, is there a way of incorporating Template:Infobox building into Template:Infobox company currently? I find it would be very handy if one could use both infoboxes, especially in hotel-related articles. Cheers--Chanaka L (talk) 16:28, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Chanakal: See the instructions at Template:Infobox company#Embedding. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 17:30, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: Thanks for the reply. Looks like Template:Infobox company doesn't have an embedded parameter. When I try to add the building infobox with an embedded parameter it gives a warning, "Preview warning: Page using Template:Infobox company with unknown parameter 'embedded'". Then I embedded the building infobox in the headquarters parameter. The result is not pretty, see my sandbox. Would it be possible to an embedded parameter to the company infobox?--Chanaka L (talk) 18:19, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Chanakal: Have you considered embedding Template:Infobox company into Template:Infobox building? See Template:Infobox_building#Embedding_other_templates. GoingBatty (talk) 18:27, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: I tried it and it works too. But, it would be awkward for readers see the infoxbox building as the main infobox, when the company is the more prominent subject. Don't you think?--Chanaka L (talk) 18:34, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Chanakal: Reading the lead of the Taj Samudra article, it seems that the building is the more prominent subject. GoingBatty (talk) 18:48, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: Since it a listed company and the 78th most valuable brand in Sri Lanka, I would say it qualify under WP:NCOMPANY before it qualifies WP:NBUILDING. I made another edit to the sandbox (at the bottom), this time embedding the company in the the building. Seems salvageable, still feels awkward though. I think that'll do for the moment. Still love to see if someone could add that embedded parameter to the infobox building. Cheers--Chanaka L (talk) 19:21, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Chanakal: If the company is the more prominent subject, maybe the article should be TAL Lanka Hotels. GoingBatty (talk) 19:32, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

Wildrose Station - Death Valley National Park
[edit]My aunt and uncle (both now deceased) once owned Wildrose Station in Death Valley National Park. My aunt was a secondary english teacher in nearby Trona. The location included six cabins, a restaurant and two gasoline pumps and living quarters above the restaurant. I spent two summers (early 1950s) on location cleaning out cabins and waiting on restaurant patrons and a lot of time wandering across the rocky hills surrounding Wildrose Station. I distinctly remember the mud wall remnants of an earlier structure located behind the restaurant. My family spent several Thanksgiving dinners here along with three or four local "desert folk". - Thanks; is there a particular reason you are sharing this information? 331dot (talk) 19:22, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- If you can find a source, you can add info about Wildrose Station to the article, probably in Death Valley National Park#Protection and later history. FYI - I saw these when looking, but they aren't reliable sources.[[1]] [[2]] (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this:

How do I find Wikipedia articles that link to a subsection of a page?
[edit]Over at Lift(Force) we're about to implement a significant reorganization of the material, including re-titling some subsections. I know that there are many pages that link to specific subsections, and I'm aware of how to put in a span tag to create an anchor with the old title.
Is there a way to find out how many articles link to a particular subsection? I suppose I could just put in a span tag for every renamed subsection, but it's likely that some don't have any links pointing to them making the span tag unnecessary.
P.S. I know there is the "What links here" link on the left hand side, but it doesn't indicate anything about links to particular subsections.
Thanks. Mr. Swordfish (talk) 20:43, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

Changing incorrect information
[edit]There’s incorrect information in the Behrooz Rezvani article, but I have a COI and can’t change it myself. My client Rezvani was born in Iran and moved to the US. The article says he was born in the US. I put a connected edit request on the talk page, but it was rejected because there’s no source. Since saying he was born in America is also unsourced, can we just remove place of birth altogether? 63.249.73.187 (talk) 21:09, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- I did a quick search and can't find anything that says he was born in the USA or Iran. Since it's unsourced, I just removed the USA from the infobox. I noticed the other sourcing is a bit weak - I'll see if I can add some more info, including a source for Iran. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 21:37, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
Hardly anything on this subject anywhere, even on Wikipedia
[edit]I am looking for information on a T.J. Holmes Co. that made Holmespray with Des Pat 92148 on the bottom of a small green bottle. I found zero information after searching both Holmespray and T.J. Holmes Co. on Wikipedia. Here is what little I've found elsewhere on other websites:
"This Vintage throat and nose Atomizer was manufactured by the T.J. Holmes Co under the product name "HOLMESPRAY". The patent number "DES. PAT. 92148" can be seen on bottom of bottle."
https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-1940s-medical-atomizer-1826214016
"Vintage 1940’s green depression glass atomizer."
"Bottle is about 2 1/2” tall, 3 3/4” to sprayer. Patent number DES. PAT. 92148 is stamped on bottom. Bottle thought to be manufactured by the T. J. Holmes Co. under product name “Holmespray”.

How is there nothing on Wikipedia about this company, and how can a page be made for it? How would a page even be made for it if there's so little info? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:542:C000:DE60:D8D:A04F:F31E:A4F4 (talk)
