If you were looking for the Arabic version of a particular article, it may just be that nobody has yet written a corresponding article in the Arabic Wikipedia. All editions of Wikipedia are independent projects, with their own editors, who work on what they choose. --ColinFine (talk) 10:09, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Spelling help

@Dineshswamiin: Since there is no official controlling body for Indian English, the "correct" spelling is the one most commonly used by writers of Indian English. Go see what the Times of India uses. Since there was a British Raj, not an American Raj, "centre" seems more common. See for example Centre of Indian Trade Unions, Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Indian Centre for Space Physics, etc. If I search for "Indian Center" in Wikipedia, there are far fewer (southeast Asian) matches, and they tend to be smaller, more obscure examples, for example International Center For Management and Indian Studies (which used to be called the Centre for American Education), Indian Railways Track Machine Training Center. Perhaps it's like the situation in Canada. Here we use British spelling, but no one pays much attention if somebody uses the American version. Clarityfiend (talk) 07:36, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Kiev Day and Night#Soundtracks splitting

Can I split Kiev Day and Night#Soundtracks as a result of too long for navigation? The Supermind (talk) 12:02, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

I don't think this soundtrack has enough notability - WP:GNG. Though, there seems to be two lists of songs for some reason in the article - so you could cut that down to one. I'd also promote Soundtracks to a level 2 heading, rather than level 3, as it isn't really an overview - it's the body of the article. Hope that helps. EcheveriaJ (talk) 15:29, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

can you help me review changes please

hello, i translated an article from the jp wiki to english here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gawr_Gura) is there anything missing I might need to add? Like a translation tag or something? or is it just fine for now?

beforehand it just redirected to the company the vtuber was affiliated with, but I deleted that and put in information now. Hi @Too Much Distractions: the translated "tag" you asked about is {{Translated page}}, which goes on the article's talk page (another editor has already added it) - more is explained about this tag here. One thing that hadn't been added is an interlanguage link (one of the links to the other language articles on the left hand side of the page). I've added this now, but for future reference on how to do that, you can read more at Help:Interlanguage links. Hello, Rizosome. You can search the Help desk archives (there's a search box near the top). Once you've found the archived item, you can create a link like [[WP:Help desk/Archives/2020 December 25#Is my first approach toward particular user is good practice here?|Is my first approach toward particular user is good practice here?]] displays as Is my first approach toward particular user is good practice here?. I don't know whether there is a template to generate the link more automatically: I haven't found one. --ColinFine (talk) 16:51, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

@Rizosome: All the reference desks and the main Wikipedia:Reference desk and Wikipedia:Reference desk/Archives also have a search box near the top. In Wikipedia, a permanent link actually means a link to a specific page revision and not a link to an archive page but I guess it's the archives you want. @Rizosome: If you mean you want a link which only displays one section of a page then it's not possible. Tenryuu showed how to make a link with #sectionname which should make your browser jump to a specific section on the page. Some section names with special characters require encoding of the characters. Which section is it about? PrimeHunter (talk) 08:30, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Rollbacks on article Dhar

Dhar (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hello, I've met a ?disruptive? rollbacker while copyediting the article Dhar. The editor/bot (i'm not completely sure which) keeps rolling back my edits and giving me warnings about vandalism. I did make a minor Replace All error while editing the article, which seems to be the cause of the issue, but I'm working to fix it without removing the hours of work I've done on correcting grammar. I've tried to contact the rollbacker on the talk page and in my user talk page but they haven't responded with anything constructive. What should I do? Hi @Shotgunscoop: you appear to have tried to discuss this here, but I can't see where else you've tried to contact the other user (@Serols). They did leave a few notes on your talk page saying please note the article name. Per Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle, you should discuss with the other user your edits before making them again. Perhaps explain why you want to make the changes you have? @Shotgunscoop: I'm assuming they mean that because the article title is "Dhar" without an "ā", they think you shouldn't change the placename in the article to include the diacritic. Hi Shotgunscoop, and thanks for contributing to the backlog drive over at the GOCE. While I can't speak for Serols (who could have probably used another set of warning templates), I assume it's because you're adding diacritics to the a, which the article title does not have. The lack of diacritics is appropriate if reliable English sources commonly refer to it as such. The transliteration of "Dhar" that you're proposing might be better suited as a parenthetical thought in the lead accompanied by its Hindi orthography. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 18:22, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Oh ok, Tenryuu - I saw that some of the places in the article mentioning 'Dhar' had the diacritic, so I just wanted to make it uniform and more accurate to the pronunciation. thanks Shotgunscoop (talk) 20:04, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia loading in Hindi by default

Why is Wikipedia loading in Hindi as the default language? I have to manually set it to English each time. Not sure how to fix this, please help. Soutrikdd (talk) 23:28, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
