Honorific title on Wikipedia[edit]

An update on Meshack Alloys information[edit]

Unknow language[edit]

Multiple quotes from same source[edit]

Hi, I would like to know how to use different "quotes" for the "cite web" template. I would like to use a single source, but put different quotes in different places in the text. I hope I have explained. Thank you.--Mhorg (talk) 11:11, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mhorg: Assuming you're using the source editor, you can create a named reference then recall it later in the article. Example:

<ref name=example>{{cite web|details}}</ref>; this generates the reference like normal.

<ref name=example />; this reuses the reference above and doesn't create a separate entry in the references list. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 11:17, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the answer @Tenryuu:, but I'm talking about a different thing. For example... in the first line I can put the "quote" parameter. But, think about it, if I want to use in the second line the same source (name=example) but putting a different quote?

First line of text<ref name=example>{{cite web|quote="this is my first quote"}}</ref>;

Second line of text<ref name=example />; When the user puts the cursor here, I would like to show them the same source but with a different quote like "This is my second quote" and not "this is my first quote".--Mhorg (talk) 11:38, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have always believed that |qoute= should go away because it prevents the use of <ref name="<name>" /> just as you describe, and because quotations in §References are just so much clutter. If a quotation is important to the article, put the quotation in the article body, or in a separate §Notes section, and then cite it.

@Mhorg: take a look at Children's Village (New York). You could do something like what I did in that article. name question: Shamita Das and Shamita Das Dasgupta[edit]

I just finished a page for Shamita Das who is a seismologist. Wikipedia also has a page for Shamita Das Dasgupta who is a scholar and activist. I am not certain how to handle the disambiguation needed to separate these two names. I think I know how to made a disambiguation page, but I am not sure of the culturally correct way to separate these names. Underage vs. Child-- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Salva[edit]

Hello,

I recently attempted to edit a page that referred to the victim of Victor Salva (a crime he was convicted of) as an underage actor. I changed it to child, but the bot swapped it back. I would like to know why. The victim was 12, which is a child. How is that "biased"? I also referred to the incident in my edit as an assault, rather than an "encounter", which was also changed by the bot. I just want clarification on why this language was changed or found unacceptable.

How to contact grievance officer in india[edit]

There are several wikipedia sites that contain blatant racist stereotypes on indians that are illegal and used for fomenting violence in india.

Also a large content on Indian history is replete with falsehoods and propaganda that is causing communal disharmony in india.

How to report vandalism of a Wikipedia Page[edit]

We have just discovered our company Wikipedia page had been maliciously vandalised, we have a pretty good idea by who and it is obvious slander. How can we report this and ensure the user is blocked?

As vandalism goes, it's pretty mild, and it happened two months ago. We wouldn't block anybody for one edit short of gross vandalism or defamation, and after two months it's now pointless. Please be aware that you have a conflict of interest, and that your edit, while justifiably removing the IP's commentary, put in text that is promotional-sounding. We don't mind you removing something inappropriate, but please take the time to read the guidance for editors with a conflict of interest, and please be aware that shared accounts are not allowed. Template:Infobox_Switzerland_Municipalities[edit]

In the infobox for the article on Geneva, I wanted to make the "mayor_party" link to the actual party, the Green Party of Switzerland, but somehow this has been predefined (or elsewhere defined) to link to the article List of political parties in Switzerland. Double-bracketing the party's name doesn't help either, because it messes up the format. I couldn't find anything in the Template:Infobox Switzerland municipality or in its source. The same problem exists in Bern's infobox (though that party doesn't have an article on en.wp, only on French and German Wikipedia). Articles of cities, such as Zurich or Neuchâtel, with mayors belonging to parties represented in the federal council appear to get redirected to the right article, even changing the displayed name to a multilingual version, such as SPS/PSS or FDP/PRD/PLR in those articles. Hello, Sluzzelin. It's defined - or rather, not defined - in Template:polparty. As that stands, If you give GPS or PES, it will display as "GPS/PES"; and if you give Green, then it will display as "PES"; and in all these cases it will link to Green Party of Switzerland. But if you give anything unrecognised (eg "Green Party of Switzerland") it will display what you give, and link to the list article. So if you are willing for it to display as GPS or as GPS/PES, you can get that; but if you want it to display the full name as well as link to it, I think you'll need to get the template changed. --ColinFine (talk) 20:42, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
