[edit]Animal GAs
[edit]I recently promoted the article Kererū to GA status. Where should we put animal-related GAs on the GA main page – I don't see a category that applies to them? Mover of molehills (talk) 01:58, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- Under Did You Know, like any other newly GA article, right? Or am I misunderstanding the question? RudolfRed (talk) 02:07, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Mover of molehills: The natural sciences page has a section for organisms, with a subsection for birds, which I believe would be most appropriate. Thanks for reviewing and helping promote that article! Isabelle 🔔 03:09, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
Is there a tool or bot that creates references named "auto"?
[edit]At Saudi Arabia there are several errors showing in the reference section, such as " Cite error: The named reference auto was invoked but never defined (see the help page)." The names are auto, auto1, auto2, auto3, and auto4. Is there some tool or bot that creates references with names like this? It seems unlikely to me that a human editor would choose names like this. RudolfRed (talk) 02:16, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- I think that you can answer this question by studying the history of the article. Ruslik_Zero 05:16, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- @RudolfRed: as far as I am aware, refill uses these names if it encounters multiple refs to the same url. Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 05:24, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- @RudolfRed: Using WikiBlame, I confirmed that they were added by reFill in this edit. GoingBatty (talk) 18:11, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Need Guidance
[edit]Hi,
I hope you are fine and doing well God Bless You. Recently I just add iCrowdNewswire in the following post/article https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_press_release_agencies of Wikipedia. But without notifying me any issue some authors delete my content which is totally according to the already added companies. Please guide me about that.
Thanks & Regards,

- Jsmith iCN From your username, I gather you are an employee of this company; please review conflict of interest and paid editing for information on required formal disclosures you must make. Regarding your question, the article you edited is not meant as a list of every such company in existence, but a list of those with Wikipedia articles. To merit an article, your company must receive significant coverage in independent reliable sources that have chosen on their own to write about it, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. As you have a conflict of interest, you should not write such article yourself. 331dot (talk) 10:17, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
The definition of the word hobo.
[edit]Can you please fix the definition of the word hobo. The definition that you have up is actually referring to tramps not Hobo's. A tramp is someone who travels for work. A hobo is someone who travels by freight train to migratory work. You are not considered a hobo unless you ride freight trains.
I lived this lifestyle for over a decade. I traveled as a tramp and as a hobo. Your current definition is offensive to both tramps and Hobo's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.136.39.178 (talk) 11:09, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- Please address any concerns with that article to its talk page, Talk:Hobo, along with any independent reliable sources to support what you say. Unfortunately, we cannot just take your word for it, no matter how accurate what you say is. 331dot (talk) 11:10, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- You are correct about the definition (not so sure about the freight train part). The sources and the quote in the Etymology section contradict the first sentence. I'll get around to it later. Clarityfiend (talk) 13:10, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Page review
[edit]Hello, Can you please review the page I have created. I have added 3 new citations to 3 trustworthy sites and I want to see if that will be enough to meet the requirements for notabilty. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:George_Cervantes
Thank you in advance, Marco — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marcorubiocali (talk • contribs) 12:53, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- No, in its current form the draft does not meet Wikipedia's requirements.. Your citations need to be provided as footnotes to show which parts of the text they support. You have been given links in the past to WP:Referencing for beginners, and you need to read that, and it would be wise for you to read the other useful links which you have been provided (on the draft and on your user talk page). You have also merely provided bare URLs, so you need to expand them. --David Biddulph (talk) 13:31, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for taking time to epxlain everything in detail. I will go ahead and do everything you said. Thank you. --Marcorubiocali (talk) 17:46, 15 October 2021 (UTC) I have made the chances you requested. Can you please see if that meets the requirements. Thank you for guiding me in the right direction and giving me the full details of what I had to do in order to get the page up and running. Thank you again! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:George_Cervantes --Marcorubiocali (talk) 18:06, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Marcorubiocali: I fixed the references for you, did some copyediting per WP:SURNAME, and tagged the last two sentences as needing references. If the draft currently contains the best independent reliable sources you can find, I agree that he is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. GoingBatty (talk) 18:22, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
Thank you so much for helping out. I will try to look for more trustworthy sources that I can use for the page. --Marcorubiocali (talk) 18:27, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- I see that the OP has now moved the draft to mainspace, rather than resubmitting the draft for AFC review. AFC reviewers or new page patrollers may wish to take a view. --David Biddulph (talk) 01:08, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

“Mormanism” and “Mormans” is a misnomer
[edit]The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the correct name of the church. And we ask that we might no longer be referred to as “Morman’s.” It was a name given to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by non-allies when the church was first forming. For more information please visit https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/church/news/mormon-is-out-church-releases-statement-on-how-to-refer-to-the-organization?lang=eng . Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:90D8:63E:DFD9:E541:7669:A88F:D221 (talk) 14:15, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- Morman was a Breton chieftain, and nothing to do with your church. It would indeed be incorrect to use the word to describe your church. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:24, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- I think that the complaint is about the use of the term Mormon but since the IP user can't spell that correctly and it is a WP:COMMON name for one strand of that church, perhaps no action is needed, David Biddulph. Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:59, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hi there! When you have a concern about a particular Wikipedia article, the best place to discuss it is at the article's talk page (e.g. Talk:The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). Thanks for your desire to improve Wikipedia, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 18:25, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- Just FYI for everyone, this church is attempting a "rebranding" and insisting that nobody call them Mormons anymore. When reliable sources comply with that request, Wikipedia will as well. So far, it's not really happening. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:19, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, the fact of the matter is that this church itself used the term "Mormon" quite extensively until 2018. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir had worldwide fame for decades, and the church ran a multimedia campaign for years called I'm a Mormon where various celebrities extolled the virtues of being a Mormon. These are only two of countless examples. All that changed abruptly in 2018 when the 94 year old leader of the church changed his mind and suddenly rejected the word "Mormon". He then ordered all of his followers to abandon a word that many of them has embraced their entire lives. Really quite strange. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 23:34, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- Fascinating. You helped me meet my "learn one interesting thing a day" quota. And I'm coincidentally in the middle of Under the Banner of Heaven. Recommended for all on this thread. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 01:06, 16 October 2021 (UTC)
- This discussion has also allowed me to make a couple more re-directs from the given misspellings, for which thanks. -- The Anome (talk) 12:00, 16 October 2021 (UTC)
