How do I make an entry[edit]

How do I add a page about someone? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lamont985 (talkcontribs) 02:23, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Lamont985: What sources do you intend to cite? Unless you can answer that question to people's satisfaction, the answer is "you don't". —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 02:27, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Lamont985: the only absolute requirement for a Wikipedia article is that the subject must meet our notability requirement. See WP:N. Make sure you have reliable sources that demonstrate notability before you do anything else. We delete about 200 articles or draft articles every day, almost always due to lack of notability, so do not waste your time or ours on a non-notable subject. After you are sure your subject is notable, come back here and we can help. -Arch dude (talk) 03:03, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If it is "Lamont A.Turner American author of short stories" ie yourself, this isn't going to get out of the starting blocks, see WP:AVOIDCREATE and WP:FAMOUS.

adding an article to a navbox[edit]

I have created an article 1881 AAA Championships and I am trying to figure out why it has not been added to the navbox at the bottom of the page. my understanding is that I just need to add the template: "British championships in athletics" (with the correct curly braces, of course) and it should just do it itself. that seemed to work for 1880 but not for 1881. what am I doing wrong. Cottonshirtτ 03:25, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Cottonshirt: No, this won't happen by itself. At the top left of the navbox you'll see three small letters "V T E"; the "E" stands for "Edit". Click that, and you'll find that you are editing Template:British championships in athletics. Search for "1880" within that, and it should be clear how to add a link for 1881. -- John of Reading (talk) 06:26, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
thank you very much indeed Cottonshirtτ 06:46, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cottonshirt if there is no existing redlink you also need to edit the template itself to actually add the link, it doesn't happen automatically. You can do this by clicking the little E in the top left corner of that template, or going to Template:British championships in athletics and clicking the Edit tab there. I have done so for 1881. Vandalism help request from Padres Hana[edit]

I have noticed this edit at Talk:Michael Adams (journalist). I am not sure if this contribution can be classified as vandalism but I would like to know what the correct response, if any, should be. Thank you, Padres Hana (talk) 05:04, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

(This edit.) I see no vandalism, just a rant. It's the editor's first contribution (?) to a talk page. Not just two but all three of their previous edits (to articles) were in a similar spirit and were rightly reverted. This is an infrequent contributor, and I'd hope that not responding to their rant would be the best way to avoid fluffing up their interest. -- Hoary (talk) 07:03, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've indeffed. this among other edits is not someone who is here to build an encyclopedia. Star Mississippi 20:18, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
