August 28[edit]

Reece Mastin page[edit]

I noticed on the Reece Mastin page there is reference to an article where he got a tattoo of his grandfather in Indian war paint. While this is stated 'as such' in the article, it should be edited to be Native American war paint since they are not related to Indians and this is a term no longer used. Sharpeirox (talk) 02:05, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Sharpeirox. That article is not protected. You can make the edit if you want to. Cullen328 (talk) 05:51, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Shortcut - for more than one way to wiki?[edit]

I think there is a shortcut saying that there is more than one way to skin a cat/editors are allowed to have different opinions. A search only provided this irrelevant link Wakelamp d[@-@]b (talk) 02:57, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Wakelamp. Your question is unclear and your link doesn't work. Are you referring to editorializing and perhaps Wikipedia:Neutral point of view? Shantavira|feed me 08:12, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the link. I am talking about discussions on Meta. It's not NPOV, its not no firm rules,,,, More like it's a broad church, but not that no one is forcing you to be here Wakelamp d[@-@]b (talk) 08:46, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you are thinking of Ignore all rules? Shantavira|feed me 11:53, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Citation[edit]

Hello, is it possible to remove a citation from a text if it has been placed there ill-intentionally to cause harm, and replace it with neutral or positive content? Thank you for your help. KenJ79 (talk) 04:24, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Possible, certainly. Though I'm not sure we should necessarily be engaging in mind-reading to determine intent. At least, not without further context. Which article are you referring to, and which citation? AndyTheGrump (talk) 04:29, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question in wrong place[edit]

Someone added a question to the very top of this page, just past the TOC. I don't feel comfortable moving it. 71.228.112.175 (talk) 09:29, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just moved it to the bottom, though it probably doesn't belong on this page at all… Madeline (part of me) 09:33, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Maddy from Celeste I agree with that... 71.228.112.175 (talk) 09:49, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is in the wrong place----I am not comfortable moving it. 71.228.112.175 (talk) 09:24, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you have a reliable source, you can just change it yourself. Madeline (part of me) 09:49, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Gr8daze: If you need further assistance, I suggest you post on Talk:Barron, Wisconsin or use the Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard. GoingBatty (talk) 00:29, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

wanting a news story written[edit]

im wanting a news story written regarding aboriginal policing in canada 205.234.50.19 (talk) 17:29, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over 6.5 million articles and thought we were affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is for asking questions related to using or contributing to Wikipedia itself. Thus, we have no special knowledge about the subject of your question. You can, however, search our vast catalogue of articles by typing a subject into the search field on the upper right side of your screen. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we have a reference desk, divided into various subject areas, where asking knowledge questions is welcome. Best of luck. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:38, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not a news system. Wikipedia articles (not "stories") summarise what reliable sources have already published on a subject. If there are enough such sources available on the subject (and these would need to be secondary sources discussing the issue, not simply news reports of individual events), then we could have an article about it. Creating an article is difficult, and I don't advise anybody to try it who hasn't already made several hundred valuable edits to existing articles. See Your first article. Local time template?[edit]

I want to add some text to my userpage about the hours I'll be active, and I want to display those hours in the reader's local time. Something like, "I'll be active between 9:00 and 19:00", but with the hours adjusting with the time zone. Is there a template that can do that? {{u|Bowler the Carmine}} (he/him | talk) 19:44, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bowler the Carmine: There is no template or other method to do that. I suggest you write the time in UTC including "(UTC)" to show it. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:00, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would certainly find it less confusing if the hours were displayed in UTC, like everything else in Wikipedia. Maproom (talk) 21:12, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I'll go with that then. Thank you for your help! {{u|Bowler the Carmine}} (he/him | talk) 21:38, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I need to cite a file (a tar.xz)[edit]

I need to cite the file LICENSE, which is in the tar.xz archive at https://source.vivaldi.com/vivaldi-source_5.4.2753.tar.xz. This is for the wikipedia page Vivaldi (browser). This is because on the infobox, the information about Vivaldi's license is wrong (its actually a BSD 3-Clause "New" or "Revised" License, not a Proprietary freeware license). Proof of this is only in the LICENSE file, which is inside the tar.xz file at the link https://source.vivaldi.com/vivaldi-source_5.4.2753.tar.xz. Matr4x-404 (talk) 19:52, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This indicates that that tarball only contains the free portions of Vivaldi: A copy of Vivaldi browser’s open-source code is available on our website. The changes are published under an open-source BSD license. Details are explained in the README and LICENSE files within the package. Madeline (part of me) 20:11, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your lies about recession definition[edit]

Do not respond to deliberately inflammatory posts. It's not our fault they refuse to read the article's talk page. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 22:43, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
