revert an article to previous version[edit]

hello, i want to revert an article to its previous version, how do i do that? InfiniteSword (talk) 05:02, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@InfiniteSword:To revert to a previous version, go to the article's history and click on the version your wish to revert to. This will display it. you can then click the "restore this version" in the "this is an old version" box at teh top of the displayes article. Please make sure you really want to do this: all the later edits will no longer be there. Would it be a good general idea to convert "audio" templates to "listen" templates?[edit]

Here's an example using the template {{audio}}:

The first example has a link which says "play", but it's irritating because it doesn't. For reasons explained at Help:Media (MIDI), it will download the midi file to your machine instead, which will then play when located and opened if the machine is set up to play midi, which Windows computers typically aren't. Android seems able to play midi files by default, but it's still annoying to leave the browser to do so. If you click on "info", that leads to a page with the file embedded a third way, using [[File:]], which works like {{listen}} without the decorations. I guess an argument could be made about server load, but other than that it seems to me really bad to present these frustrating non-functional links to the reader. I think the {{audio}} template is just out of date (by ten or twenty years). Card Zero (talk) 10:49, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Card Zero:I suggest you start a discussion on the talk page of {{audio}}, and add a pointer to your discussion at the talk page of {{listen}}. The folks who are watching those pages, if any, will be your best source of informed opinions. Use of Wikipedia text content[edit]

Hi We have an educational website. In a free English vocabulary training course, we have used the text sections of Wikipedia. Of course, Wikipedia's name is mentioned in the course description in the sources section. This course is free, but to use this course and its information, you must become a member of our site. You can reuse Wikipedia text as long as you provide attribution. Images are more complicated. It doesn't matter if you charge for the course or not, Wikipedia's license allows reuse for any purpose(including commercial). 331dot (talk) 12:31, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

External Link[edit]

What are Wikipedia rules when I want to add a link to a book that resides on archieve.org? The book is not a reference but to list the literary work of a dead person. SULNOUR (talk) 17:58, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You can use Template:Cite book to add citations referencing books. Where you found the book shouldn't matter, as that's just where one copy of the book is from. You can see Wikipedia:Citing sources for more detailed information. WelpThatWorked (talk) 19:10, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

sandbox page gone[edit]

Because you never published it. (The "Publish page" button used to be "save page", but people complained that what they saved was visible to anyone who knew where to look, hence why it was changed.
