How do i return to my draft page ...

[edit]

I have set up a draft page and it said when I finish working on the page press "Publish" and it will save the page so that I can come back to it at a later date which I am doing today but I cannot find how to get back to the page ... it says that this page has been deleted ... but the other day it said this but the page was not deleted somehow I managed to get into it ... what am I doing wrong? and where can I go to find out how to reenter a page after I close it down. Thank you. Ngeralite (talk) 00:18, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What was the page called? If you mean Draft:Briann kearney is is still there. Meters (talk) 00:21, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like you actually created it in article space (not draft space) and it was moved to daft by user:‎Liz , but you have edited it since then. And shouldn't this be at draft:Briann Kearney? Meters (talk) 00:26, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Moved. Meters (talk) 00:29, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How to fix a talk page archive mess?

[edit]

Talk:Melbourne Airport seems to have been manually archived by someone in 2008/09. However, I wanted to set up auto-archiving, and so I did using Lowercase sigmabot III, but realised that it would archive the most recent posts into Archive 1, when there already was an Archive 2 that was previously manually created. So I disabled the bot for now.

I've now moved the contents of Archive 2 into Archive 1, and it now sits at around 50k bytes, when the bot's default max is 125k bytes per archive. I've also made sure that the posts are in chronological order. Is it now safe to reinstate the auto-archiving template? Is there something we can do about the now empty Archive 2?

Thanks and please ping me. Fork99 (talk) 05:38, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Answered by PrimeHunter, thank you! Fork99 (talk) 10:31, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Linking infobox to Wikidata

[edit]

Hello, I just created Naum Tyufekchiev, and I was trying to link the infobox with Wikidata, but I couldn't find how. If you can tell me how to do it, I would be really grateful.

Thank you in advance AgisdeSparte (talk) 09:19, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

AgisdeSparte, I looked at Template:Infobox person/Wikidata and put {{Infobox person/Wikidata | fetchwikidata=ALL}}, which picks up sourced information from Wikidata. You may want to add some more sources to the Wikidata item. TSventon (talk) 09:57, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, ok, I just didn't put the "fetchwikidata=ALL", thanks anyways ! AgisdeSparte (talk) 10:14, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
AgisdeSparte, my general advice would be, if a template isn't working, search online for the template name and then check the instructions. TSventon (talk) 10:35, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

stats on my activity on Wikipedia

[edit]

I was surprised to see that I am the largest contributor (22.5%, 23.8% and 16.8% by the various methods in "revision history statistics" under "page information") to an article about a town that I have never visited and for which I have a fairly narrow band of interest. Is there anything that would show across all of Wikipedia those articles in which I am a major contributor? I was just wondering if there are any other surprises on my input. ThoughtIdRetired (talk) 11:09, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've had a similar reaction at times, but I don't know any "show me articles where I am at least 30% by authorship" tools. [1] just tells me which pages I've edited a lot. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:38, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ThoughtIdRetired You'll find your own version of that link if you navigate to your contributions page, when it is the "Edit Count" link among the special links at the bottom, any of which you might find useful. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:38, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tour

[edit]

I would like to do a tour 2600:4040:9B0D:A100:20CB:DD82:FF54:6755 (talk) 12:14, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Historically, you would go to WP:TourBusStop to do that. Today, I'd recommend H:INTRO. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:32, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Basingstoke media

[edit]

Hi there, I see that you have deleted my contribute to the page and said it doesn't make sense on the second sentence. Then how come BBC London and ITV London can also be received in Basingstoke by what? a TV transmiiter or cable or satellite? There need to be a reason why its receives in the town. 172.195.130.203 (talk) 13:00, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The best place to discuss this would be on the article talk page, so that the editors that follow that page will see it. 331dot (talk) 13:07, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing an archiving mistake

[edit]

Hi. Over the last few months I added ClueBot III headers to a few Talk pages. Today I realized that my copy and paste was setting the archiveprefix to the value correct only for the Talk Matter Wave page. I've tried to correct the pages. But I guess some archiving might have gone into the wrong bin.

Any suggestions on how to repair or even check what happened?

I noticed that @Sawol seems to be fixing some of this.

copyri

[edit]

You have a photo from kremlin.ru that is listed as creative commons 4.0. But that photo is also credited to TASS. This is very confusing, as kremlin.ru tells a different story:

"The present rules for using materials from this website do not apply to RIA Novosti photographs that MIA Russia Today is the copyright holder of, or to photographs the TASS News Agency is the copyright holder of, when such photographs are posted on the www.kremlin.ru website with an indication of the agency and author." Please explain this to me. 2601:5C5:8303:8AD0:88B3:B5B0:EFA5:C4D1 (talk) 17:11, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It could be a mistake. It would be much easier to answer if you could give a link to Wikipedia's version of the image. Maproom (talk) 17:24, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Blue Highlighted Words In Articles

[edit]

Hello. I am wondering how I might fix an issue I have when reading Wikipedia. It used to be that if I put my cursor on a blue highlighted word, it would give a brief rundown of that work, phrase, person, etc. But now, if I do so, all it does is mimic the word highlighted and do nothing else. Is there something that I can do to fix this so that it goes back to the original way of description? Thank-you for your time and advice. It is appreciated. Have a great day! 2601:500:8882:73D0:E91C:9483:87BE:7835 (talk) 23:32, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, IP user. There are two different tools that give some sort of preview of a linked page: one is called page previews, and I think is enabled by default, and a cleverer one called Navigation popups, which a logged-in user can enable in their user preferences. I don't quite recognise what you're describing, but I suspect that if you chose to create an account you could enable navigation popups and find them helpful. ColinFine (talk) 10:04, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
IP editor: I think that readers who are not logged in get an option to see page previews (or not). Try hovering over a blue-link where you would expect a preview. You may not currently see one but I believe you should see a "settings" cog in the corner of the preview box. Click on that and you should be able to activate the full previews: which I assume are related to how cookies are set in your browser. Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:27, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you have disabled previews then there should be a link saying "Edit preview settings" at the bottom right of the window. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:52, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
