Account Deletion[edit]

I would like to delete my Wikipedia account because I made a mistake with the username so I want to recreate the account LilRence (talk) 06:42, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You can't delete a Wikipedia account, just create a new one and start using it. I think something like WP:FRESHSTART has some info. NotAGenious (talk) 06:50, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And yes, account renaming is possible, but for an account with only 2 edits, it's usually better to just create a new one NotAGenious (talk) 06:52, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism help request from 2409:40F2:101C:F67A:8000:0:0:0[edit]

I have noticed some vandalism at YUMNAZAIDI. Namely, BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE VANDALISM HERE. Would an editor please assist me with fixing it? Thank you, 2409:40F2:101C:F67A:8000:0:0:0 (talk) 11:53, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me but that article you mentioned does not exist. 🛧Layah50â™ȘđŸ›Ș ( è©±ă™? äž€ç·’ă«éŁ›ăŒă†ïŒ) 12:45, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Possibly Yumna Zaidi. TSventon (talk) 12:49, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No vandalism on that article immediately jumps out at me. Editor- can you specifically let us know the article and the content you think is problematic?
Unfortunately the article has a few issues as-is, with unreferenced content and poor grammar. Qcne (talk) 13:54, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Proposed deletion tag on Punjab University Law College[edit]

I see the removal of PROD tag on the edit history of Punjab University Law College with an explanation but there are no citations being added. Should the PROD tag be restored? The prod tag says "If this template is removed, do not replace it". I am confused! Jeraxmoira (talk) 13:00, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and welcome to the Teahouse. Proposed Deletion is for uncontroversial deletions where no one is expected to object. If someone removes a PROD tag, that means the deletion is controversial and as such if deletion is still desired an Articles for deletion discussion needs to be started. 331dot (talk) 13:03, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, Thanks! Jeraxmoira (talk) 13:04, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is the help desk, not the Teahouse * Pppery * it has begun... 14:44, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have made the same mistake a few times myself. Cullen328 (talk) 23:41, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rules for creation of tables as articles[edit]

I've noticed that Wikipedia's List of diets is fine as a link to articles but unwieldy for figuring out the differences between diets, especially for the vegetarian and semi-vegetarian diets at the bottom, and was considering making a table contrasting different diets that are vegan/vegetarian/semi-vegetarian at Table of vegan and vegetarian diets. Would this be in accordance with all Wikipedia policies (especially notability and not doing original research)? I think so (Table of prophets of Abrahamic religions is similar) but I'm not totally sure because tables as articles are few and far between. Mcavoybickford (talk) 16:19, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see anything wrong with the existing article, but if you think it is unclear I suggest making improvements there first. Shantavira|feed me 08:37, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's probably what I'll do- there's a partial table on the lacto-vegetarian article that I can adapt to include more information. Mcavoybickford (talk) 12:06, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stucking of creating a toolbox template[edit]

Hi Wikipedia editors and administrators, I persist to get help from you that I am unable to create a toolbox template for the article about a gun. So how can I do to make contributes to this incredible encyclopedia? Thanks so much. GreatPersonLikeMe (talk) 16:52, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm guessing that by "toolbox template" you mean an infobox. But you have edited several articles about guns, so I can't tell which article you mean. ColinFine (talk) 17:16, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah... That's belong to the article SIG MCX Spear which I was stuck over here. GreatPersonLikeMe (talk) 05:48, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK. The problem you had with inserting {{infobox weapon}} into SIG MCX Spear is that you didn't close the template - it must end with }}, or it will not display, and may swallow the rest of the text in the source. ColinFine (talk) 19:11, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Citing filmographies[edit]

I've periodically added citations to the filmography sections of some actors' articles, adding references to their various screen credits. I sometimes look at the discussions on WP:In the news/Candidates, and often nominations to post actors on the Recent Death ticker are unsuccessful because their filmographies are uncited. Thus, I was under the presumption that all actors should have fully cited filmographies on their articles.

However, I later discovered that one of my citation sets I added on a living actor's page was removed by another editor, who claimed that citations were not necessary if the actor was credited onscreen in the work in question, and thus, citations are only needed for uncredited appearances. I have been unable to find any specific policy which confirms or refutes this suggestion, though I am predisposed not to believe it because of how often I've seen this problem raised on ITN/C, and I can't recall ever seeing someone claim that filmographies did not need citations to begin with. Has this matter been codified, and if there is a policy in favor of requiring citations for all credits, should I restore the removed citations? --Sunshineisles2 (talk) 19:14, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

MOS:FILMCAST says "When listing uncredited roles, a citation should be provided in accordance with Wikipedia's verifiability policy." This suggests that in articles about films only uncredited roles require citations. I found nothing about citations for filmographies. But even if something doesn't have to be supported by references that doesn't mean it shouldn't. I find it absurd to remove such citations. -- Random person no 362478479 (talk) 20:47, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Citations are not needed for matter-of-fact, uncontroversial statements. Since an actor's billing can generally be easily verified (in the film's credits, as well as various other places), it's overkill. Clarityfiend (talk) 11:46, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:CITE, "Wikipedia's verifiability policy requires inline citations for any material challenged or likely to be challenged". Clarityfiend (talk) 11:51, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How to add Aux1 to episode list[edit]

I made a fake sandbox page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:BreadGuy1922AUTOMOBILE/Star_Wars:_The_Empire_Wars. How do I add Aux1 to the episode list. Edit it all you will, if you please. Just help me out here, I'm new to wikipedia editing and templates so I don't know much. 😁 BreadGuy1922AUTOMOBILE (talk) 22:36, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@BreadGuy1922AUTOMOBILE: I have added example code with aux1.[1] PrimeHunter (talk) 23:24, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
