About the evaluation level of the article Mount Japfü.[edit]

Mount Japfü was created in March 2022 and has not been rated as of June this year. According to WP:CLASSES, should it be evaluated as "stub" or "start"? Fumikas Sagisavas (talk) 05:16, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is borderline, but reading by the lines of WP:CLASSES, it states a "useful picture or graphic" is one of the start-class criteria – I think that, combined with having a paragraph's worth of text and four references (though they're not great refs) is enough to justify a start rating. I've rated it as such, but another editor could swap it to stub (though in my experience, ratings are often not updated very frequently). Skarmory (talk • contribs) 06:52, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Need help correcting a serious error[edit]

Anyone, including the subject, can add the template {{cn}} after the dubious statement, which is automatically translated into "citation needed". That should prompt users who are watching the article to find a reference from a reliable source. Doug butler (talk) 06:23, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately the problem is that the statement that's linked to as a footnote was misunderstood by the editor who added it. The Tweet in question -- the link for citation 15, under "Personal Life" -- refers to my "brother" (a term of endearment) but he is actually my stepfather's only son, and I didn't meet him until we were both in our thirties. I don't have a counter-citation but I suppose I could create one. The existing footnote has sparked trolling/harassment. MatthewSeitz68 (talk) 06:34, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@MatthewSeitz68: I assume this is for Matt Zoller Seitz – in that case, given the original source is a twitter post by you (and therefore a self-published source), you could create another twitter post explaining the situation and that should be enough to replace it in the Wikipedia article. I really appreciate this. That particular (misconstrued) bit of detail has caused me to be harassed online by people who don't like my reviews and generally have it in for me. BTW there's a ton of other detail in the tweet that thread is a part of that is perhaps more relevant/interesting and not, well, you know....

Editing problems[edit]

Today's Help desk[edit]

Just checking if something's gone wrong with archiving. Today's Help Desk seems to start in the middle of a question from 5th June, rather than at the heading for 6th June (which I assume was intended). AndyJones (talk) 12:53, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Sempre Lontano"[edit]

Closing a discussion with no responses[edit]

About five days ago, I created a section at Talk:Waukesha Christmas parade attack about splitting off the trial section into its own article. There have been no responses since. Is this a case of WP:GOFORIT? How long should I wait before just creating the article? What would be the proper procedure? Mfko (talk) 21:14, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, give it at least 7 days, as that's the length a usual discussions runs for. If nobody objects, in that case, you can probably split the new article and if it's redirected then have a discussion, or you can follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Splitting#Procedure to start a more official discussion (though those often go for months with very few responses as well). If you need more input on a discussion, you can usually make a post at a relevant WikiProject. In this case, WP:WikiProject Wisconsin and WP:WikiProject Crime would probably be the most relevant ones. With that said, I think I would oppose this split. All of the information about this event should be kept on the same page unless there's a good reason not to. The article is still fairly short for Wikipedia standards; it would need to be about four or five times as long before we started talking about splitting due to size. Fixing links generated from neurolex/interlex IDs[edit]

Neurolex records were migrated to Interlex, apparently without appropriate redirection, so now all the Neurolex links are broken. Apparently these links come from some kind of Wikidata integration since I can't see how to edit the link on Wikipedia (e.g., https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extrastriate_cortex), but whatever generates the HTML links from the IDs needs updated to point to interlex: is someone already working on that or is there a way I can help fix it?

Hello, Mwatts. I'm not clear whether the problem is that the ID has changed, or the way that the URL is generated has to change. If it's the first, then the ID's will need to be edited in Wikidata, eg d:Q4530686. If it's the display, then I suggest asking at Template talk:infobox anatomy. @Mwatts15: Special:LinkSearch/*.neurolex.org shows some remaining dead links to neurolex.org. The examples I examined have the url directly in the page.
