October 3

[edit]

Why on these, and on many other pages of Italian actors, in the section "Selected bibliography" all the hyphens are wrong, besides being an excessively long section? I did what I could on some pages, but it is not possible to correct this error on all pages... anyway, the correct hyphen would be "–". JackkBrown (talk) 04:43, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@jackkbrown: probably because – is not on most standard keyboards. ltbdl (talk) 05:47, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just to point out that – is an en dash, not a hyphen. Shantavira|feed me 09:25, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@JackkBrown - While you're working on those articles, you might want to translate the roles from Italian to English (e.g. "Il proprietario del teatro" on Mario Castellani). Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 13:47, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
JackkBrown, you might want to look at WP:DASH, if you haven't already. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.212.130.182 (talk) 16:59, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Moving from sandbox to article

[edit]

I just discovered that an article I wrote has remained for years in my sandbox. How do i move it to an article? Jerry Tulis (talk) 10:18, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jerry Tulis Assuming you are talking about the biography at User:Jerry Tulis/sandbox, you created that in 2023. I've added a template at the top that you can use to submit it for review. Before doing that, add a reference section at the foot, with {{reflist}}. Mike Turnbull (talk) 10:28, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Turnbull That biography has been created on 27 January 2023‎, so it is probably not the one which 'remained for years in [Jerry's] sandbox'. --CiaPan (talk) 13:41, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@CiaPan From their contributions, that was the only sandbox/draft they ever had. Following my advice, it was submitted as Draft:Anthony Hearle Johns and has already been declined for lack of reliable sources. Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:11, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Mike Turnbull The contributions listing does not show everything :) Look at their talk page and you'll find out there was also Draft:Asia Research Institute, created twice and twice deleted. But, as it was deleted, it couldn't 'remain for years', either, so the OP's 'discovery' remains unclear. --CiaPan (talk) 18:05, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why are there flags in the infobox on this page? Is it correct to leave it like that? JackkBrown (talk) 15:48, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

JackkBrown, MOS:INFOBOXFLAG says that flag icons should generally not be used in infoboxes. TSventon (talk) 16:17, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TSventon: could you please check if I have modified it correctly? JackkBrown (talk) 16:37, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It looks fine to me. TSventon (talk) 17:59, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Clickable button on user page

[edit]

I'm trying to add the clickable button template on my user page. However, it renders as a plain link, and copying the same template from the source code into my sandbox does show the button as expected. Anyone knows hot to fix this? Example: this in my user page shows up as a plain link, whereas in my sandbox works properly. {{Clickable button 2|Main Page|class=mw-ui-progressive}} Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 16:12, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is no use of Template:Clickable button on User:Cocobb8 but it works fine when I preview it, and similar code worked fine for me in an old version. Please save your actual attempt so we can see what is wrong. Say whether it looks as wanted if you log out. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:20, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Cocobb8 You had {{font color|white|blue|my talk page|link = User talk:Cocobb8|talk page}} on your UserPage, not the correct template.... Mike Turnbull (talk) 17:22, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Michael D. Turnbull and @PrimeHunter Sorry, my mistake I hadn't saved the correct version. It works fine now. Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 17:50, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of content

[edit]

Why was the entire research section of Andrew Huberman removed...70 published papers. He did not remove them. Who would remove them and why? Vicki2810 (talk) 18:10, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest going to the talk page and asking there. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 18:19, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Vicki2810. The research section was removed by AncientWalrus with the reasoning "Remove purely primary and advertorial list of subject areas that the subject has published in - addition was done by SPA who has been pushing this content" (link to SPA page added by me) in this edit. Edit my tag

[edit]

I have edited in Word my Wikipedia entry and cannot find where I can uppload it. I expect that someone will take what I have done and finalize this edit. It includes a new photo of myself. Where do I submit this? I took the current page and added material highlighted it in yellow.

Thank you

Gerrit Blikies (talk) 18:51, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Blikies: First, see WP:AUTO. If that does not dissuade you, then gather multiple independent sources that provide significant coverage of you, per WP:NBASIC. If you have such sources, then try Help:Your first article and Wikipedia:File upload wizard. GoingBatty (talk) 19:58, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They seem to be talking about making changes/additions to an article (or at least a page) which already exists on Wikipedia, though it's hard to know which one without more information. 57.140.16.56 (talk) 20:19, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It sounds like you are proposing changes to an article which already exists, for which you should go to the article's talk page and make a new section that uses {{Edit COI}}. Unfortunately, there is not a place to upload a Word document (although I guess if you had it hosted somewhere you could link to it). Releasing a new photo can be done by the instructions at Wikipedia:A_picture_of_you. jp×g 05:43, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Project 2025

[edit]

Hello! If you know anything about Project 2025, you know exactly what I am asking. What is the best way to add Template boxes? I have added {pov} and {Political POV}, but I think it needs more. Should I add a {Multiple issues}? This is so controversy the intro gets changed daily and I fell like it would get worse as the 2024 election gets closer. I have requested protection, anything else I should do? This is the first time I have been working on a page this controversial. LuxembourgLover (talk) 19:21, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@LuxembourgLover: Hi there! Why would an article need {{POV}} if it already has {{Political POV}}? GoingBatty (talk) 19:54, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know what one would work, I first added {POV}} then I thought {political pov}} I do not know what one would be better. This is my first time I used one of them. LuxembourgLover (talk) 20:54, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@LuxembourgLover: I'm not American or in the loop about Project 2025, but I can give some advice about which template you should use. If you think that the bias in the page is of a purely political nature, than use {{Political POV}}. If not political, just use {{POV}}. JML1148 (talk | contribs) 04:56, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fix the corrections

[edit]

Can you find another way to fix the schedules of Breakdancing at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022? And can you fix the right schedules of Sports Climbing at Hangzhou Asian Games 2022? 108.21.67.83 (talk) 21:49, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello IP, I'm not sure what you mean by 'fix the schedules'. Breakdancing at the 2022 Asian Games doesn't have a schedule table in it, and the table in Sport climbing at the 2022 Asian Games appears to be correct. JML1148 (talk | contribs) 04:01, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello anonymous IP. Whenever you want to make a correction to a Wikipedia article, but find you are unable to do so, try following the instructions at Wikipedia:Edit requests. It helps if you can be specific about the exact changes you think should be made. Shantavira|feed me 08:34, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am unable on this page to insert this: "Cavaliere di Gran Croce OMRI". Update: I think I fixed it. JackkBrown (talk) 23:38, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
