Afro Free Culture Crowdsourcing Wikimedia (AfroCROWD) Kickoff Editathons

Afrocrowd is is a new initiative which seeks to increase the number of people of African Descent who actively partake in the Wikimedia and free knowledge, culture and software movements. The workshops are open to all Afrodescendants including but not limited to individuals who self-identify as African, African-American, Afro-Latino, Biracial, Black, Black-American, Caribbean, Garifuna, Haitian or West Indian.

Black WikiHistory Month

This event is a part of Black WikiHistory Month - a wiki-coordinated program of article writing, image/picture creating, events and edit-a-thons focused on Black history in the United States and worldwide, working with WikiProject African diaspora and related projects. In February 2015 BHM is being celebrated for the first time in the USA in association with the United States' Black History Month.

Register for the event on Eventbrite if you plan to attend in-person. If you are able, please also add your Wikipedia username to the appropriate section below (signatures are created by saving four tildes [~] in a row). If you haven't edited Wikipedia before, please create an account using the link in the upper right hand corner prior to the event date. We will provide some training at the event for first-time editors.
