They were so fast that they were going into something weird.

Joe Strummer (1952-2002) in a 2002 interview. benzband (talk) 08:15, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

I saw Sick Of It All play last week and it was faster than we played. We played at HALF the speed. You talk about some aspects of punk rock and it was speed and aggression. They were so fast that they were going into something weird. The velocity is so fast that they were going into 12/8 or 16/5. They're pushing through boundries. They broke through to another time barrier like a waggon wheel going 'round that it looks like it's going backwards but it's really going fast. This is the audio version of that effect. I was going 'This is...!' Back in the day, I was thinking it was good but we doing (imitating guitar) 'neaaar-neh-neh' but now they're going 'BAP-BAP-BAP, BAP-BAP-BAP!' Let it rock. —J. S.

    • I don't think so. The essay is humorously taking a potshot at vandalism and hasn't generated controversy as far as i can tell. The quote itself is relevant, too (search for "gay" in the Kurt Cobain article then read the relevant paragraphs). So this is in fact standing up for gay rights. What's wrong with that? benzband (talk) 15:34, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Friendship, mysterious cement of the soul!

Robert Burns' (1759–1796) "Epistle to James Smith" (1786), opening line/verse. I must admit that I would liked to use another (and well known) part of the epigraph:

O Life! how pleasant, in thy morning,
Young Fancy's rays the hills adorning!
Cold-pausing Caution's lesson scorning,
We frisk away,
Like school-boys, at th' expected warning,
To joy an' play.

... But I have not yet found a full good version (set of links) for it (it's too complicated, but I have some ideas about... if you want to...). The opening line, never dull, conveys a very simple concept, but because of its "simplicity", it is suitable to many different interpretations (sets of links). (Additional [and very boring] note: if you would like to read the full text of this epigraph then the "Epistle to James Smith" is here at WikiSource). –pjoef (talkcontribs) 09:20, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Personally, I can say that I am here to try, with my modest contribution, to make human knowledge, which, in my humble opinion, is less than 5% of the "whole", available to everyone. Anyway, WP:WSG is in "I absolutely adore you", and they (C.C. "Buddy Boy" Baxter portrayed by Jack Lemmon, and Fran Kubelik portrayed by Shirley MacLaine) were playing cards so "deal" refers to the distribution of the cards to the players in a card game, and I read this line as: keep doing what you're doing→WP:CTW. –pjoef (talkcontribs) 08:19, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
