Wikipedia:Noticeboard proliferation noticeboard

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    There is no Cabal

It has recently come to our attention that there are too many noticeboards. Before introducing any new noticeboards, we recommend posting a notice here to see whether the community can handle WP:YAN (Yet Another Noticeboard). Example below.

    WP:SARCASM

    [edit]

I'd like to propose the Wikipedia: Sarcasm Noticeboard to discuss situations where an editor uses sarcasm when an earnest response would be preferable. Jehochman Talk 20:18, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    [edit]

I'm almost half serious about this one. How about a "In popular culture" section noticeboard? Anytime someone starts adding an "In popular culture" section to an article, you can immediately notify the community to prevent articles from containing endless lists of songs, movies and TV shows.[1] A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 23:31, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    Needed: Simplification Noticeboard

    [edit]

There are far too many noticeboards. I'm still internalizing Sue Gardner's speech, where she noted (I hope I'm paraphrasing correctly), the impressive capacity of volunteer groups to generate incredibly detailed guidelines, and instructions, but the inability of such groups to work on simplification of procedures. I'm not yet sure whether the driver is being a volunteer, or being a human, but we could use some simplification. So maybe we need a noticeboard to track where procedures are too complicated. In the spirit of not adding to the clutter, maybe this one could be eliminated.--SPhilbrickT 19:10, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    Lame Content Disputes Noticeboard

    [edit]
    • This will be a place where editors can discuss WP:LAME content disputes. Any talk page discussion about something lame should be immediately moved and quarantined to this noticeboard. This allows the editors uninterested in lame disputes to continue to improve the article without being distracted by all the lameness.
    • I also propose a Lame Arbitration Committee. Any discussion at the Lame Content Disputes Noticeboard that cannot be resolved within 30 days automatically goes to lame arbitration where the arbs will settle the issue once and for all. They are allowed to use a coin. Any editor who continues the content dispute after the ruling has been issued will be immediately mocked by the arbs and any other uninvolved editors. The mocking shall continue until the editor agrees to stop being lame. A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 19:45, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    [edit]

A place where discussions can be... discussed. Not to be confused with Wikipedia talk:Discussions for discussion which discusses those discussions. –MJLTalk 02:28, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A noticeboard where editors can be made aware of attempts to cite this noticeboard in discussions about noticeboards. Fermiboson (talk) 12:44, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
