What actor is this?

[edit]

The one in the middle - https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DF53JftXcAAm_Yh.jpg:large I think I recognise him acting as a cop/detective in something. 2.102.184.212 (talk) 02:16, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like Jake Gyllenhaal. ---Sluzzelin talk 03:10, 30 July 2017 (UTC) Indeed, it's him with Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandon at the Toronto Film Festival 2002 [1]. ---Sluzzelin talk 03:13, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Of course! cheers. 2.102.184.212 (talk) 03:39, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Birth dates of Wil Wheaton and Will Wheaton

[edit]

Both are listed as the same, which seems highly unlikely. What are the correct dates for each ? StuRat (talk) 12:33, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

An editor mistook Will Wheaton (born July 29, 1972) for Will Wheaton (born October 26, 1972) and changed the lede date to the former. I have corrected the error. Thanks for catching this. Maineartists (talk) 12:54, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Your two links point to the same article, but thanks for the fix. StuRat (talk) 18:56, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
They should have at least shown the courtesy of being born in different years. 2606:A000:4C0C:E200:E14F:DD6F:CFA5:F319 (talk) 15:39, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Now that's funny! Maineartists (talk) 15:44, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sheldon Cooper's reaction. Clarityfiend (talk) 02:50, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Movie theater

[edit]

I don't usually go to the movies with a lot of tech and superheroes, however I decided to see Dunkirk. I checked the show times and saw this:

Standard 4:00pm; 6:50pm; XD 9:25pm; 10:15pm; 3D 7:15pm

What's XD & 3D, how are they different from Standard? I need a lot of education, it seems. OMG! I am light years behind the modern civilization. --AboutFace 22 (talk) 23:57, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

3D obviously refers to a 3D film. XD apparently stands for "Extreme Digital", whatever that might be. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots00:37, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
XD is mentioned briefly here and here. --69.159.60.147 (talk) 00:42, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
3d is a 3d movie. You'll need to wear special glasses. These are usually 3d conversions, not actually filmed with a 3d camera. It's like colorizing a black and white movie, and about as realistic. (And they wonder why 3d is perceived as a gimmick!)
XD is "Extreme Digital", a competitor to "Imax". Basically, it'll be a bigger screen and a supposedly sharper image. The XD/IMax showings often tend to also have better and louder sound, but that's not a rule. ApLundell (talk) 15:08, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks. I highly appreciate your explanations. --AboutFace 22 (talk) 00:19, 1 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
