Canadian stabbing suspects

[edit]

What race are the suspects of the recent Canadian stabbing incident? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.113.37.253 (talk) 10:13, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As I understand it, the two perps and most of the victims in the 2022 Saskatchewan stabbings were Cree. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots16:56, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Victims, human; perps, debatable. Clarityfiend (talk) 04:26, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
News reports were careful to avoid that issue, largely because in the past they had been criticized for emphasizing a perpetrator's ethnic origin when it had nothing to do with the actual crime. One could only deduce the suspects' origin through the mention that one of the victims (whose ethnic origin was known) had been previously attacked by one of the suspects a few years earlier and that the two were relatives. And even that fact was only reported a couple of days after the initial attacks. This deliberate avoidance of a significant element of the crime made some of the reports unnecessarily vague and hard to follow. Which is not trivial when there was a major manhunt going on for a suspect considered armed and dangerous, covering three provinces. By the way, for anyone interested, the relevant article is 2022 Saskatchewan stabbings. Xuxl (talk) 18:08, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The OP geolocates to South Africa, a region which is understandably sensitive to racial issues. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots18:23, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
