Need sources for this information

[edit]

Hello, one source came across information like: "the deepest karst cavity (2952 meters) was found by drilling on the coast of Cuba (Varadero beach), but it is also apparently impossible to get into it from the surface," but the original source was not specified. From what source is this information taken? Thank you in advance. Vyacheslav84 (talk) 09:56, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Try karst. --Wrongfilter (talk) 14:02, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. --Vyacheslav84 (talk) 16:42, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
[Edit Conflict] "Karst is a topography formed from the dissolution of soluble rocks such as limestone, dolomite, and gypsum. It is characterized by underground drainage systems with sinkholes and caves." "A cavity is a hollow in an object." 'Caves and sinkholes' are obviously well summarised by the latter word, and the term "karst cavity/ies" is used in many Wikipedia articles, as a cursory search shows: what part of this is hard to understand?
My dimly-remembered geography A-level many years ago suggests that pothole (landform) pit cave is the feature in question. Alansplodge (talk) 11:23, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Vyacheslav84, we cannot investigate the source of information if you do not tell us where the information occurs. Neither your quote, nor various parts of it that I have searched for, occur in any article on this Wikipedia. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.193.131.160 (talk) 14:09, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
90.193.131.160 page № 472 самая глубокая карстовая полость (2952 метра) обнаружена бурением на побережье Кубы (пляж Варадеро), но и в нее с поверхности, видимо, не попасть. --Vyacheslav84 (talk) 16:40, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The source misspells the name as Ворадеро, so searching for "Варадеро" is fruitless.  --Lambiam 20:17, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Varadero. --Vyacheslav84 (talk) 08:42, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yul Brynner's pigeons

[edit]

Per pigeon keeping, did Yul Brynner really like to watch pigeons from his helicopter? I see no source, and such sources as I can find might be citogenesis. I can't find a photo of Yul Brynner with a pigeon, either, which makes me suspicious. I did find this forum post about roller pigeons. I guess it's at least true to say "according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, some guy said that Yul Brynner said he did this".  Card Zero  (talk) 18:10, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is from 2005 (link to RS). The skinny on Brynner's fancying was added to Pigeon keeping years later, in 2012.  --Lambiam 20:06, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I added it as a source, though I feel dubious about it since it seems only to be a rumour.  Card Zero  (talk) 20:30, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
