Ian Umney

The article was deleted for the reason it is about an individual etc. The page has not yet been finished and will refer to Umney's Last Case amongst others. The article will explore the strange surname and its origins including the coat of arms, worldwide coverage and so on. There are many references to be made to the surname such as John Paul College, Kalgoorlie, Umney English, Dnepropretrovsk and the French Foreign Legion. Please allow the page to be finished before deleting anything. -UmneyIan (talk) 17:01, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

I oppose undeletion. The biography was about a 28-year-old with no notability. There is no need to engage in original research about the surname using this non-notable person as the springboard. If UmneyIan wants to tell the world about the surname, he should start the article Umney (surname). Of course, such an article should be built using WP:Reliable sources. Binksternet (talk) 19:10, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
Not done. Articles deleted in accordance with WP:CSD#A7 cannot be undeleted by request. You can ask the deleting admin, or take the case to WP:DRV if the admin declines to consider your request. Bear in mind, however, that you should not write about yourself on Wikipedia anyway.
Ideally, main article space should not be used for working drafts about people. Use your sandbox or a sub-page in your user space to get the article into shape before publishing it to main article space — especially if you're writing about yourself, you should use Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Then you need not worry about someone coming along and deleting the article, as will happen in main article space. ~Amatulić (talk) 00:03, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

The reason for deletion was no indication of significance. But Neurotree is referred to in numerous Wikipedia pages as well as having a PLoS ONE article about it (http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0046608). • Not done and will not be done This was deleted under WP:G3, as a blatant hoax. You will have to provide some pretty solid proof in order to show that this person actually exists. Given the claims in the article, it'd have to be something in an extremely, extremely reliable source for us to even begin thinking about restoring the article. As it is, the article is full of unsubstantiated claims and some of them could be seen as personal attacks against the person in the title, so re-creating this without providing an overwhelming surplus of sources can lead to you getting permanently blocked from editing. That isn't how copyright works. Per the Berne Convention it's automatically copyrighted at moment of publication. • Not done I'm declining this for a few reasons. The first is that the article was written in a fairly promotional, essay-like manner that comes off as promoting living medicine. It'd have to be almost completely re-written to fit a neutral point of view. The second is that I have to echo the concerns that there's not enough justification to show that this specific aspect of holistic medicine merits a separate page in and of itself. I'd recommend starting a discussion at Talk:Holistic health about possibly making a small subsection about this or making a mention somewhere on the page, but for the most part I can't entirely see where this is so independently notable that it would really pass AfC at this point in time. That concern (which seems to be the predominant concern of everyone that declined the page) paired with the way the article was written, makes me think that if you did want to try at AfC again, it'd just be best to write a new article entirely. I still think that making a subsection would be the way to go, though. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 03:47, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

  • Not done Not only was the article very, very promotional, but it's also partial copyvio from the official website. I'm sorry, but this will not be restored. I'm not against you creating a new AfC candidate, but it will need to be neutrally written and in your own words. Even if the company gives up the content as fair use, the promotional tones would still require that the article be completely re-written to fit our guidelines for neutrality. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:06, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

St. Josephs Church (Dayton, Ohio)

I would like this page restored because I feel the administrator LIED that it was about a company. It is about a church, and is ONLY about a church. There is ABSOLUTELY no copyright in it. Sorry for the capital words. I am just so frustrated because I feel that the administrator does not want me on this site. Again, it is about a church, and ONLY is about a church. -DLindsley (talk) 18:15, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Note: The page was speedily-deleted under criterion A7. Pages deleted under that criterion are generally not undeleted because they require complete rewrites to be viable encyclopedia articles or because they violate our biographical or fair-use policies. A7 is not a copyright-related deletion (it's a failure to assert notability), and churches are "organizations" in the truest sense of the word. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 20:34, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Although on the topic of copyright issues, the page reads a little like it was taken from an official pamphlet for the church. The tone is fairly casual and would need some serious editing to be more neutral and encyclopedic. It's not promotional necessarily but an overly casual tone can make things seem a little more positive in how it's written. The church is quite old, so it would be worth looking to see if the building is a registered historical landmark. If I remember correctly, being a registered historical landmark and listed at the National Register of Historic Places is enough to pass notability guidelines, although you will have to be able to prove this via a RS. On a side note, I'm not sure that WP:A7 really covers buildings as the article was mostly about the church building itself more than the congregation. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:13, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Not done A little searching and I found that it's copyvio from the official website, as both direct copyvio and very, very close paraphrasing. I'm not against a re-creation via the mainspace or WP:AfC, as long as it's re-written in your own words. Even if the church gives up the content as fair use, it'd still essentially need to be re-written in order to remove the casual tone. I think that the historical landmark angle is the right way to go, though. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:16, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

File:Canada - Official Anthem (Instrumental).ogg

It never seems to matter how much effort one puts into attributing source and copyright terms. Trigger happy Wikipedians just blindly enforce rules without reading. Again, I'll reiterate the copyright terms Her Majesty bestowed upon this recording. " "O Canada" and "God Save The Queen" are in the public domain and may be used without having to obtain permission from the Government.". Scroll to the bottom, it's there. -Bananas21ca (talk) 02:25, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

This is a bit of a fiddly one - whilst the music and lyrics of most National Anthems (including this one) are indeed public domain, a performance may create a new copyright, and it's not unambiguously clear from the source that this particular recording complies with CC-BY-SA. I would suggest, instead, uploading the version from nationalanthems.info, which is specifically licenced under CC-BY-SA. Yunshui  08:52, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

I have been a professional artist for over 26 years, published in over 60 magazines, published 8 art books, shown my work in 19 countries, won the world body painting festival ( first American to do so ), and have created posters and album covers for most of the largest name is music. I just wanted to start the page and get all of the info organized and upload it in an organized way. If it is a matter of me not understanding your format, I will review it and work on that. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Jeral — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.134.247.117 (talk) 02:07, 17 June 2014 (UTC) -

  • I'm sorry, but you would have to pass WP:ARTIST in order to merit a page. The best way to go about this would be to provide sources that are in independent and reliable places, such as a review of your work. We do not keep pages based on the popularity of the artist. Popularity can help make it more likely that sources exist, but it is not a guarantee of coverage in and of itself. As far as awards and shows go, you would have to show how these were notable per Wikipedia's guidelines. Not all awards are considered to be notable enough to give notability per Wikipedia's guidelines and not all shows are considered to be overwhelmingly notable to qualify on that alone. Also, just publishing isn't enough- you have to show that getting in the publications is notable. It's become easier and easier for people and companies to print things, so the rules for what would be usable has become increasingly more strict. It all boils down to coverage. Along with these concerns, I'd also like to warn you about editing with a conflict of interest (WP:COI). Editing with a conflict of interest doesn't mean that you can't edit, just that it's way, way more likely that you will write something in a way that would be potentially seen as promotional or overly positive, and that you may see more notability than there might actually be per Wikipedia's guidelines. There's also the possibility that you will take things more personally, as there's a very real and obvious benefit to having a Wikipedia article about oneself in the average situation. I want to stress that all of this is per Wikipedia's guidelines- on a personal level many of us are frustrated that we can't be more inclusive, but there has to be a cutoff at some point. I'd recommend that if you are interested in making an article, that you try going through WP:AfC as opposed to making something in the mainspace. I would also heavily recommend that you look into getting help from the WP:TEAHOUSE and one of the applicable WikiProjects such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Arts. They can help you discern what is or isn't usable and can help deal with some of the issues that frequently arise with COI editors. I'm not trying to say that you shouldn't have an article, just that this has to be gone about in a specific and careful way. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 03:59, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
Also, since you have a conflict of interest, you need to be using Wikipedia:Articles for creation to create articles about yourself, and once published in main article space, you should not make changes to it. ~Amatulić (talk) 18:22, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

I'm declining this for a few reasons. I still think that making a subsection would be the way to go, though.
Basically you'll need to re-write the entire thing from scratch and even then, this would probably be better off as a subsection in the existing article for holistic medicine. Re-posting a request over and over again in the hopes of getting someone to accept the request can be seen as both disruptive and deceptive. Please just go to the holistic medicine article and look about getting this as a subsection rather than an article or just re-write the article to focus on this specific branch. Just about everyone who declined the AfC was concerned with the fact that the article wasn't really about living medicine specifically and was a bit of mishmash of various things and didn't show how LM deserved an article separate from holistic medicine. Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles about people. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning people will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject. Rupert Raj

This is regarding the page I submitted in September 2013. It was rejected for various uncontroversial reasons, and I did not get back to editing it within the 6 month window. I have now re-written the entry to address wiki concerns, and have resubmitted it (I think!). I would like to have the page un-deleted and reconsidered for inclusion. It might be that it has to get undeleted first, THEN I add the new entry, THEN it gets reconsidered. Regardless, I suspect I need to get the September 2013 entry 'undeleted' first. Thank you. -Brownels (talk) 15:22, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Not done for Rupert Raj, which was deleted (by me) in 2012 as a result of WP:Articles for deletion/Rupert Raj, and will not be restored because it was a CV, not an encyclopedia article. Your "resubmission" put your new draft on this page, which is not the place for it, and you correctly removed it yourself.
The right thing to do now is to update your September draft, which I have restored (see entry above) and submit it again. JohnCD (talk) 16:09, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Userfied - the page has been restored to the userspace at User:Fairwave/Kevin Whalum. Because the subject appears to fail WP:MUSICBIO criteria, and the sources you propose adding do not establish notability, the article would likely be deleted again if it remained in main article space. Malaria Day in the Americas

I received a notification that the page [Malaria Day in the Americas] had been deleted for violating G-11: Unambiguous advertising. I would like to say that this article piece has no intent to advertise or self-promote in any way. The Malaria Day in the Americas article is unbiased and has multiple third party sources in which i wil provide for you. The reason for attempting to publish this article on Wikipedia was to provide information about this particular subject that no known information is given about.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Natsnet23 (talkcontribs) 20:31, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Not done. If the intent was not advertising, it was certainly publicity, which amounts to the same thing. Wikipedia is not a publicity platform. Also, Wikipedia is not here to tell the world about some noble cause. I suggest using Wikipedia:Articles for creation to submit an article on this topic. ~Amatulić (talk) 00:14, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

I had carelessly not checked the mainspace article, which did not meet Wikipedia's requirements and has been deleted. You can work on this draft, but please read WP:Wikipedia is not here to tell the world about your noble cause. It makes no difference that this is a non-profit and a Good Cause: the question is whether you can show references to "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" to demonstrate WP:Notability to the standard explained at WP:BAND. The article has not been deleted, see JIMSH (band). JohnCD (talk) 10:05, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
It likely soon will be deleted, though, as CSD A7. Apparently the article was on AFC and was then deleted as G13, and the author simply posted it to main space. The G13 AFC should have been restored and the main space version deleted. We can still do that. ~Amatulić (talk) 14:07, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
@Amatulic: ah, sorry about that, I should have checked the article and the history. I have done as you suggest - deleted the article and restored the AfC draft, see above. JohnCD (talk) 14:58, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Restored Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Jesus Is My SuperHero (band). I wish Ashishben luck with that; at this point it seems unlikely that the band will meet WP:BAND criteria. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:51, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

  • Not done Upon looking at the page, it looks like this is a page for a fictional character that someone created for a game. It doesn't look like it's a specific character along the lines of say, Solid Snake, and I can't see where this specific character has received the coverage necessary to meet notability guidelines. WP:NFOOTY does not apply to fictional characters and most will never receive the necessary coverage to merit their own articles. I really get the impression that this character was created by the game player as opposed to the game company itself, which will make it even more difficult to find sources for notability. Everything I found on a search came up as primary for the most part and I didn't find anything that would really back up notability for the character. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:18, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

  • Comment: For this one, are you looking for a specific edit history? The problem here is that it looks like at one point this page was deleted as an attack page, so I'd have to know what you're specifically looking for. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:09, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Not done Upon looking at the AfC article, it became clear that this is not about a person in real life but a game character that seems to have been created by a player. It doesn't appear to be based on a real person and there's nothing to show that the character is notable enough to merit an entry. Given that part of the article's deleted history was an attack page, I don't think it's appropriate to re-create an article history for a non-notable fictional character.
