David R. Hawkins

There might be some inappropriate contents in the page according to wikipedia policies, which can be left for further revision. But the entry should not be deleted, since there is a same-name entry in German Wikipedia, https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_R._Hawkins, suggesting it is an appropriate entry according to Wikipedia policies. —- talk 22:51, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David R. Hawkins (2nd nomination), it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:13, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
Zhongchuxiong, each Wikipedia is separate, and any deletion discussion here would trump the simple fact that it exists on another project, which really provides little precedent because of the way Wikipedia operates. See by analogy, WP:WAX. That being said, if the foreign language article contains content that if translated, would address the basis for deletion at the discussion (which here was notability concerns) it certainly might be a good basis for a recreation that would not be subject to CSD G4 as a "repost". It is also true here that the [2nd] deletion discussion was five years ago, so if, for example, there has been significant treatment of the subject in the types of reliable, secondary, independent, published sources that evidence notability in the intervening period, a new article using those sources would invalidate any G4, but the rub is that a repost cannot be a stub, or just contain the prior content. It must show the deletion discussion basis is no longer applicable. Regarding the canned template I posted above, if any request were to be made at Wikipedia:Deletion review, I would suggest any such nomination would be predominantly under the idea that "significant new information has come to light since a deletion that would justify recreating the deleted page"—which would the be supported by disclosing those suitable sources that have come into existence in the interim. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:27, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
Fuhghettaboutit, thanks for your detailed explanation. Pursuant to your explanation that this article was deleted on the basis of notability concerns, I've found a biography of this person written in 2012 by an independent author. Would that source be adequate for restoring this article? (Jeffrey, Scott. 2012. Doctor of Truth, The Life of David R. Hawkins. Two articles: Geometry template & Mathomat

Geometry template · ( talk | logs | history | links | watch ) · [revisions]

Mathomat · ( talk | logs | history | links | watch | afd | afd2 ) · [revisions]

Can the article Geometry template be undeleted, it was PRODed, so that I can do a tidy up in relation to:

Or, if attribution is not an issue here, then copy the content to User:Aoziwe/sandbox/Geometry template for me to work on it.

Also, can the content of the previous, deleted, version of Mathomat be copied to User:Aoziwe/sandbox/Mathomat (old) for me to work on it.

Subject to what is there and what else I can find, I am at this time presuming I will have one article with a couple of redirects, if an article is warranted after I review all the material available.

Thanks. Aoziwe (talk) 13:24, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

Fuhghettaboutit. I see you have done some work. Sorry but I am not clear, have you finished? Regards. Aoziwe (talk) 14:42, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
Hey Aoziwe. Yes, everything was done the same day as my message above. I thought maybe I'd help by finding and adding sources. However, I looked for sources on the general "geometry template" topical scope (albeit, not a very deep dive; I spent maybe a half hour) and really found little, so it may be that it should be returned by a move back to the more restrictive title focused upon Mathomat (or maybe "Mathomat and MathAid, or something similar depending on what exists). By the way, given the Australia connection, I performed searches of both Trove (a digitization project of the National Library of Australia with over 5,000,000 Australian newspaper pages) and Papers Past (a digitization project of the National Library of New Zealand; over 2,000,000 New Zealand newspaper pages) and found little, but part of the problem is that searches of "mathomat" find huge numbers of false-positives for "mathomatics" and "mathomatician", despite the change from an "e" to an "o", and I saw no easy was to bypass that.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 18:47, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Fuhghettaboutit. Yep know all about trove! I will start to see what I can do with Mathomat/Geometry template. Are you going to close off the AfD? Aoziwe (talk) 10:50, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

My page was wrongfully deleted after only being posted for 2 minutes. There is no way my post was reviewed to see if content was accurate. There is a category in Wikipedia Called “HVAC Manufacturing Companies”, many of our competitors have a presence on your site. AAON, Daikin, Johnson Controls, Trane and York International all have a presence on Wikipedia. There are other companies listed that nobody has ever heard of. Nothing in what I wrote was promotional or sales jargon. Just facts about an American company that has existed for almost 30 years that creates a unique product. We were written about in a notable and reliable publication (Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration News June 27, 2016) I respectfully disagree with judgment and ask that my post be reinstated. —ColdAir (talk) 13:19, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

1. Has been the subject of MULTIPLE, non-trivial, PUBLISHED works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.

2. Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart.

  • Articles that were deleted by community input are not restored unless otherwise convincing but, considering you started a Draft, that should be sufficient space because it's simply no different from the community-imposed deletion. SwisterTwister talk 05:29, 24 May 2017 (UTC)
Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Justin Tyler, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user SoWhy (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. ~Anachronist (talk) 11:44, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Not done Article was deleted as a result of AfD process. I don't see anything out of order with the AfD. No objections if Spearshak would like to create Draft:Walter van Dyk to try to work on an improved article. —C.Fred (talk) 22:08, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

The AFC reviewers need to see the deleted draft in order to verify that the current draft is better than the deleted article either be posted in user space (my user space will do) or emailed, so that I know that the new draft is better? Without the deleted version, I will have to assume that the new version is no improvement. I am not an administrator and can't see the deleted version. Robert McClenon (talk) 06:57, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
@Robert McClenon: The deleted version is word for word verbatim identical to the draft version. The only differences appear to be some minor paragraph formatting, and the contributors. Therefore I have deleted it in accordance with WP:CSD#G4. ~Anachronist (talk) 11:31, 27 May 2017 (UTC)
Thank you. In that case, the submission of the draft, which was the same as the deleted article, was a waste of the time of the reviewers, and the proponent should not have submitted the draft until they had improved it. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:02, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Flont

Speedy Deletion under highly subjective G11 criteria, with no response to (and apparently no consideration of) detailed contestation in Talk. This is proof that WP:Why I Hate Speedy Deleters should be required reading for admins before they can participate in Speedy Deletion. I've created and improved dozens of articles, and it's admin actions like this (bullying really) that sap all interest in contributing to WP. CSD are intended for obvious cases where no doubt exists. Original nominator Cordless Larry admits uncertainty in talk. Flont was a short, factual, highly referenced article about a new but obviously notable company, directly referenced in three articles published in national print publications: Vogue, Women's Wear Daily, and Fast Company. Dozens of reliable, albeit lesser, publications also discuss the company. Two notable company founders, each with long standing and highly referenced WP articles. A new reference for a founder (to support the word "prominent") is a NY Times print article, with the founders name is in the headline itself! No reasonable consensus would agree to G11, but aggressive CSD undermines democracy. —Nixie9 12:05, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

To clarify, I didn't admit uncertainty about my rationale for nominating the article for speedy deletion; I just stated that I can no longer see the article content to offer detailed comments on it. The nomination didn't concern notability. Cordless Larry (talk) 12:13, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
Pinging Jimfbleak, who deleted the article, so that he is aware of this request. Cordless Larry (talk) 12:23, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
I notified Jimfbleak. I respectfully suggest that if you cannot state unequivocally that an article is not notable, you have no business nominating it for Speedy Deletion. Nixie9 12:26, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
Hi Nixie9. Notability has nothing whatsoever to do with deletion under CSD G11. G11 is about the content being blatantly promotional, without relation to whether the topic is sufficiently notable to warrant a proper write-up. The same thing is true of other speedy deletion bases. Your objections here, on the basis of notability of the topic, would read no less like a non sequitur than if this was deleted as a copyright violation, and you said "...but it was a notable topic". The one has nothing to do with the other. Only WP:CSD#A7 predominantly, plus A9 and A11 bear any relationship to notability, though they are different (and lower) standards, and relate to the text present, rather than whether the topic is notable on the merits. The issue of whether the content was sufficiently blatantly promotional to warrant a deletion under G11 is another topic, but would have been a relevant focus.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 18:28, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

kappa phi gamma

The National Board of Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. noticed that our page on wikipedia was deleted in November 2016. Our page was deleted for being "Non-notable sorority. Very small, no real national presence; only 5 chapters nationwide, not recognized by National Panhellenic Conference or any national Greek umbrella organization affiliation." We would like to have our page undeleted. We can rewrite the article and include more resources if need be, but it was unfair to be deleted off of the site for not being "notable". Our Sorority started less than 20 years ago unlike Greek organizations that are over 100 years old. We have 11 chapters and 5 colonies along with several alumnae chapters from Texas to Massachusetts. Kappa Phi Gamma is recognized by the National APIDA Panhellenic Association, all the universities that it is established at, and by the beneficiaries of their philanthropy. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We request that our page is undeleted and that we are given the opportunity to improve our page. We are open to suggestions as long as we can have our page up again. Thank you for your time. —Kphigmarketing (talk) 18:49, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

Fluidware

Page was not spam, no good reason for deletion was provided. —aminiland (talk) 09:20, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

  • Actually "G11 - Unambiguous advertising or promotion" in fact is as shown at WP:What Wikipedia is not and WP:Criteria for speedy deletion (our policies) and we would need explicit assurance advertising will not be restarted. If you can convince us there's genuine independence of information, uninfluenced by the company, that's different. SwisterTwister talk 03:34, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

  • It's tough to prove that since I cannot access the old page. This was a company which was involved in a notable acquisition in Ottawa, deleting the article seems like revising history.
It seems the deletion was due to an edit being made at some point by a banned sock puppet, but it's hard to tell what extent this article's contents were attributable to the bad actor, since the revision log is inaccessible. A temporary undeletion would allow me to demonstrate whether it was advertising or spam... —aminiland (talk)
@Aminiland: It was deleted by Ohnoitsjamie, apparently unilaterally, without being nominated for speedy deletion. This is OK if the article was blatantly or unambiguously promotional, but I don't see that as the case here. The correct action for you to take is to contact the deleting administrator and request restoration, preferably to draft space so the article can be improved and re-submitted for review. If the admin declines, you can take your case to Wikipedia:Deletion review to get a community consensus whether the deletion was proper. ~Anachronist (talk) 11:55, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

The article still has G11 problems and so I'm moving it to the draft space at a minimum. Mkdw talk 18:09, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
