Women in Green: 2024 Goal Tracking

Welcome! The purpose of this page is to track articles on women and women's works being nominated for Good Article (GA) and Featured Article/Featured List (FA/FL) status in 2024 and to encourage editors to work towards nominating and reviewing more articles. Participation is completely optional. Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

When listing article nominations as part of our goals, please only list articles on this page with the consent of the article nominator. If someone declines participation, kindly respect that choice. Article nominators should be major contributors to the article or should have placed a notice on the article talk page prior to nomination. Good Article nominations which are quick failed should be removed from the nominations list, but articles which are fully reviewed and failed may stay. A failure at Good Article nominations can still be an important step forward for an article, allowing editors to identify problems and continue to make improvements.

When listing article reviews (as per Goals #2 & 4), please only list articles with the consent of the article reviewer. If someone declines participation, kindly respect that choice. All fully completed GAN, FAC or Peer Review contributions are eligible to be listed, regardless of the article review's ultimate outcome (e.g., pass or fail).

Goal #1: GA Nominations[edit]

In 2024, our first goal is to have Women in Green participants nominate 75 articles about women or women's works for Good Article (GA) status. This year we are not doing any particular sub-theme for this category, and welcome participants working on articles relating to any and all women: athletes, educators, actresses, poets, scientists, activists, politicians, sculptors, architects, authors, warriors, mechanics, inventors, models, and more -- and from all parts of the globe. In support of improving diverse coverage of women on Wikipedia, we particularly encourage GA nominations on women and women's works that may be additionally underrepresented (e.g., LGBTQ topics, BIPOC women, women from non-Western or non-English-speaking countries, and women in non-traditional occupations and roles).

Goal #2: Good Article nomination reviews[edit]

In 2024, Women in Green participants have a goal of completing at least 60 Good Article (GA) nomination reviews, focusing on articles about women and women's works. Interested participants should note the following: (1) editors should have already gone through the GA process as a nominator at least once before taking on a review, (2) first-time reviewers should consider finding a mentor, (3) editors are encouraged to review articles on topics they are familiar with, and (4) editors are NOT expected to pass GA nominations in order to contribute to WiG goals. Once any GA nomination review has been formally completed, both passed and failed articles may be added to the GAN review goal list below.

Goal #3: Featured Article (FA) & Featured List (FL) nominations[edit]

In 2024, Women in Green participants also have a goal of nominating 5 articles or lists about women or women's works for Featured Article (FA) or Featured List (FL) status. Since FA/FL nominations often take more work and are a lengthier process than GA nominations, editors are encouraged to collaborate with each other on FA/FL nominations. If you're not sure how to get started, ask for help! Useful tips and information can be found at the Featured Article candidates and Featured List candidates pages. Editors can list an FA/FL nomination project below as soon as they decide to begin seriously working towards the nomination, and they can update the status of their project as it progresses through different stages (for example, early preparation, peer review, FA/FL review, pass or fail, etc).

Goal #4: Peer Review & Featured Article Reviews[edit]

To encourage collaborative work on improving articles, in 2024 Women in Green has a goal of providing feedback in the collaborative review processes of Peer Review (PR) and Featured Article nominations (FAC). Our target is to see at least 15 PR and/or FAC articles about women or women's works receive feedback. Peer Review is intended to gather general feedback for article improvements (or advice on a specific issue of difficulty), whereas Featured Article reviews are more rigorous community assessments of accuracy, neutrality, completeness and style according to the Featured Article criteria. Once an editor leaves review comments for a PR or FAC, they should list the article here and sign their name beside "Reviewer 1." Any subsequent editor may sign their own name as an additional "Reviewer 2" (or 3, etc.) and contribute their own review to the same article. An article may be listed twice for this goal if it goes through both the peer review process and the Featured Article review process.
