Great Idea

Only just noticed this (while looking for something else, and being a bit busy in April). Could we add a day each for the three crown dependencies; Isle of Man, the Bailiwick of Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey? We can then proclaim someone Lady or Lord of the (little) Isles! Grouping counties?

Still think this is a great idea but wonder about about grouping/breaking up the counties a bit. I find the idea of a 48 day contest a little bit daunting. Also think that having one day per county a bit limiting - I'd be annoyed if Torfaen fell on a day where I couldn't get on to Wikipedia...

How about doing roughly 7 counties at time (effectively a week) and allow participants to work on one county or across all counties, depending on their preferences. You could have a small prize for each county and a small prize for the group of counties over the week or so. You could then have a week or so break before the next mini-contest. For example Wales could be split into 2 groups of 7 and one of 8.

With roughly 120 counties you could run the contest over a year, with roughly a week of competition and two weeks of break (to do other things...), and keep the interest going without overwhelming with a 48 day contest. Robevans123 (talk) 17:39, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I also wonder if it might simply be easier for both editors and organisational purposes to let editors free reign on which areas to target, much as in the Africa Destubathon. I thought that worked quite well - and in fact I was surprised to see that several of the countries which would be least popular turned out to be the most destubbed (South Africa was always going to be high). I also liked the structure of the Africa Destubathon and greatly appreciated not having to work towards a schedule. And it was long enough that I could could take a few weeks off without undue impact.
