Portal

Is there interest in creating and maintaining a portal, similar to Portal:University_of_Texas_at_Austin or Portal:College football? Johntex\talk 06:23, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

At this time there's probably no need for a portal. Perhaps in the future.--Wizardman 22:18, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

I re-organized the UW-Madison article, following the University of Michigan and Michigan State University formats. I have listed many suggestions on the UW-Madison Talk Page for what I believe will help make it a FA. Please help fix the article, and add any more ideas. Lordmontu (talk) (contribs) 02:49, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I created a UW-Madison template. Please check it over for accuracy, or add anything I forgot. Template:University of Wisconsin-Madison Lordmontu (talk) (contribs) 23:09, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Template looks pretty good, though you could certainly add other areas that don't have articles yet. That and you could probably take the Big Ten Conference part out, doesn't really fit with the template. As for UWM, I'd say either request a peer review or send it in to WP:GAC.--Wizardman 19:02, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I listed the Big Ten Conference as a new Wikiproject on the community portal. Just wanted to let everyone know. I'm assuming it was never listed before, but if i'm wrong, then "Oh, well". Lordmontu (talk) (contribs) 02:57, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Ah, never been there before. That should help, thanks.--Wizardman 03:13, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

February project Big Ten Conference

Would someone please take a look at the changes I'm making in the basketball section so I can get some feedback. Thanks. Rkevins 20:51, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't think the champs all need to be bolded, but I like what you're doing so far.--Wizardman 02:58, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

UWM confusion

For all of you not familiar with the University of Wisconsin System, UWM usually indicates University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. UW-Madison is the perferred term for the University of Wisconsin-Madison (where the Wisconsin Badgers are from). Thanks! Lordmontu (talk) (contribs) 23:21, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Harvey Friedman

Um, really? I mean, I know he's tied for most rushing touchdowns by a full professor during the regular season, but....

Don't get me wrong; if members of this project want to help out on his bio they're more than welcome. I was just a little surprised to see a WikiProject banner related to an athletic conference on the talk page. --Trovatore 07:32, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, I'm expanding it to really be about the 11 schools that make up said conference. Might get more people interested.--Wizardman 12:19, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Assessment

I have created an assessment section of the template, so we can begin that part of the wikiproject and start rating articles.--Wizardman 17:41, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

There is a thread on the administrators' noticeboard which may concern editors involved in this WikiProject that may affect all of the articles in the Category:Big Ten fight songs. Please see Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard#Lyrics. CrazyPaco (talk) 01:09, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Discussion on consolidating inactive and semi-active university WikiProjects

This project may be affected by a proposed consolidation of inactive and semi-active WikiProjects covering universities. The proposed consolidation is being discussed on the talk page of WikiProject Universities. We are seeking feedback from the projects that may be impacted before we decide on a course of action. Please drop by to participate in the discussion. Thanks! –Mabeenot (talk) 06:39, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

Leaflet for Wikiproject Big Ten at Wikimania 2014

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

The deadline for submissions is 1st July 2014

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to:

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.
