Political appointments by Donald Trump

It would be much appreciated if editors would watch and periodically update Political appointments by Donald Trump and its sub-articles. This is a useful article, but it's neglected and becoming very out-of-date. --1990'sguy (talk) 16:33, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

Unmatching events

Why Karen McDougal#Alleged affair with Donald Trump states that "Farrow quotes the memoirs as stating that McDougal first met Trump in June 2006", when this series of photos is from year 2000.

The woman in the "Bunny" shirt is not McDougal. She's Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kylie Bax, according to https://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/new-photos-bill-clinton-trump-melania-227945. The photos were released by the Clinton Presidential Library; they were taken at the U.S. Open at Flushing Meadows in 2000. Space4Time3Continuum2x (talk) 12:15, 28 February 2020 (UTC)

The primary source for the fact that the Donald Trump article was the second most edited English Wikipedia article of 2016 is on Meta:Research:Top edited English Wikipedia articles in 2016. The draft may be accepted and ready to be moved to mainspace. Happy thanksgiving. 36.85.217.142 (talk) 00:00, 26 November 2020 (UTC) 36.85.217.142 (talk) 00:35, 26 November 2020 (UTC)

  • This is not a subject for a freestanding Wikipedia article. BD2412 T 00:12, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
  • DGG mentioned that it might be notable if the article is about the entire Trump administration, but this would still need a lot of work before it'd be ready to go live. I'm mentioning this more because of the IP posting on my talk page, asking for me to move it live. ReaderofthePack(formerly Tokyogirl79) (。◕‿◕。) 06:56, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
there has certainly been a good deal of coverage about how WP handled the Trump administration and campaigns. I know we try to avoid making articles about ourselves, but this was quite exceptional: in terms of public interest of the underlying events, in terms of the extraordinarily intense coverage at WP and the strong feelings expressed there, and in terms of press coverage about our articles, not just the inevitable complaints about bias, but discussions of our thoroughness and careful election coverage. I think this past election will be a test case for journalism studies indefinitely, as the role of al news sources was a quite exceptional development. I think the way we handled it will be part of such discussions.
Certainly the present daft is inadequate to the topic--It will need extensive development.(and I. might as well say that it is not mew who will be doing it) . I suggest a name change to "Wikipedia coverage of the Trump administration and elections." and it stay in draft space a good while so it can be developed in a more controlled or at least a less prominent environment. The reason for my suggested change of tile is to de-emphasise the importance of our coverage of Tump the person, and focus it on the much more important question of our coverage of his political role.
I think that may be putting the subtopic before the topic. We don't have an article on Wikipedia coverage of American politics, which would be the place to start. I'll put something together at Draft:Wikipedia coverage of American politics. BD2412 T 16:08, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
@ReaderofthePack and DGG: I have now moved Wikipedia coverage of American politics to mainspace, but there is obviously substantial room for improvement and expansion - please have at it. Cheers! BD2412 T 22:27, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

Just FYI, Draft:Donald Trump 2024 presidential campaign has been underway for some time. We generally do not introduce such drafts to mainspace until a candidate declares their candidacy, but the potential for a Trump candidacy has already received so much coverage that I think it may well be notable if he decides not to run. It is possible that this draft will never mature into an article, but I am noting it here nonetheless. Cheers!! BD2412 T 04:12, 1 March 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia podcast

Hey everyone - I was wondering if anyone who's active in the Donald Trump Wikiproject would like to speak to me about their work? I'm a podcast producer based in the UK and we're making a podcast about Wikipedia. I'd love to speak to someone who's put time and effort into editing and updating the Donald Trump page over the last few years, and who could talk to me about the ins and outs of it - why they do it, the challenges etc. Would anybody be happy to talk to me for perhaps an hour at some point in the next week?

Thanks so much.

User script to detect unreliable sources

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like

  • John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.)

and turns it into something like

It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.

The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.

Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.
