Template usage[edit]
I was able to make updates to the templates of a majority of the talk pages listed here. While talk page templates are not an essential part of copy editing, I always update them when copy editing, or even when just making some minor improvements.
The {{GOCE}} template should be added to every talk page that GOCE editors have done the copyediting. Some of these articles do not have that template. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dthomsen8 (talk • contribs) 14:12, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- It's voluntary. I try to remember to do it on articles headed for GAN or better, but I don't if I feel that the article isn't too great yet. (But most often I just forget <sigh>). --Stfg (talk) 16:05, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- I normally only add them to large articles that I've done substantial work on, although I'm realizing now that I haven't added one to any article in quite a while. We have gotten grief over their use in the past, however. The concern was that we aren't necessarily watching every article we tag and maintaining our work, among other concerns. —Torchiest talkedits 16:48, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- I've used it in the past but I don't use it now; I stopped adding it after getting requests in the vein of "I see you copy-edited Article X last year; would you please copy-edit Article Y for me?" shortly after I stopped accepting direct requests. I see its potential to invite flack from argumentative editors on contentious topics, or contended elements, in the future. YMMV, I suppose. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 23:51, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
