Tatanga

There's a small disagreement on List of Mario series characters about whether or not Tatanga was in Super Mario Land 2. The conversation is on the talk page here. Can anyone please help? BAPACop (converse) 02:35, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Online print archive

Hey guys, just thought I'd let you know that the Online print archive has quite a few reviews for Nintendo games. Many not on the list are still buried in the Indexes, which I'm pretty good at navigating by now; if there's something you want to see added, I'll see what I can do. I've also found numerous Nintendo-related previews, interviews, Making ofs, etc. For example, I just found this 1080 Snowboarding Making of from NGC Magazine, which contains details not included in the current article. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 00:10, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

I have added real-world info to this article, but would like people to expand the appearances section, since I have not played all of the games in question. Cheers! Scapler (talk) 22:11, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Vivian

Can we have either an article or a section on the list of Mario characters section about Vivian from Paper Mario: The Tousand year Old Door since there was controversy over the character, the fact that the character is male even though looking female! --VitasV (talk) 21:19, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Well, I don't see it being a very strong article, personally. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 22:45, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Well then on the list of Mario characters a small section about him? --VitasV (talk) 00:23, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, maybe, but I'd like to see what exists for the character first. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 07:48, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Well I'll create a small section about her and we'll go on from there. Apparently the North American changed entirely to making her female and all mentions of her. All PAL versions except for the Australia version still kept the fact she was male and that he was a male who wished he was a female. Kinda like the whole Poison case. --VitasV (talk) 05:34, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

What game is this?

I was searching through the Japan Nintendo site and came across this game: [1] It was published by Nintendo and released in 1990 for the original Game Boy. In one of the screenshots, what looks like Mario. Anyone be able to tell what game this is? --VitasV (talk) 09:54, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Qix. It was one of the North American launch games for the Game Boy and based on the arcade game of the same name. –MuZemike 16:52, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Can we maybe have an article just about the Game Boy version since it has Mario and characters? --VitasV (talk) 11:12, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
I don't think there's going to be too much more information given with the Game Boy version, as the gameplay is identical to that of the arcade version. I would think having its own section in the Qix article would be fine IMO. –MuZemike 16:23, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Well then can we further expand the section about the Game Boy version with screenshots (mainly of Mario in the game)? --VitasV (talk) 09:04, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I think that's what I meant, yes. –MuZemike 09:09, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Delete

Can we please have the following up for deletion List of characters in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Seasons and Characters in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time since we already have Recurring characters in The Legend of Zelda series up. Those characters on the other pages can just be listed on the articles of the games themselves. --VitasV (talk) 09:10, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Delete List of characters in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Seasons as Characters in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages is the correct page. Redirect Characters in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Blake (Talk·Edits) 17:09, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I'll just change them to redirects. --VitasV (talk) 02:20, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Article about Navi

I think Navi from Ocarina of Time has gained over time enough notability. Do you think it's possible to create an article about her? --VitasV (talk) 07:22, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

I can't recall off the top of my head (I or somebody else would have to do some digging in RSes.) if she's got enough (apart from her current coverage) to warrant her article. I'm kind of leaning towards that there might be enough there. –MuZemike 07:53, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Article has been started at User:New Age Retro Hippie/Navi (The Legend of Zelda). I am sure he is very busy though, and I don't think he would mind you editing the article. Blake (Talk·Edits) 16:24, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Just had a look. Will also maybe add information about Tatl and Ciela who also take Navi's role as well Zelda in Spirit Tracks and King of Red Lions in Wind Waker. --VitasV (talk) 00:47, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Can we have an article created for the game Quest for Camelot (video game). Based on the 1998 Warner Bros. movie of the same name and released in 1998. Published by Nintendo (not licensed) and developed by Titus Software for the Game Boy Color but also compatible with the original Game Boy. It can be used with the Game Boy Printer and Super Game Boy. It's gameplay is similar to The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. So is it possible to have an article of the game? --VitasV (talk) 09:32, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Membership update coming up

Just to give everyone a heads up that I will be doing an update of the Nintendo task force's membership starting on March 1 and will run for the entire month. Basically, I will place everyone on an "inactive list" and will ask everyone, if they're still active in the task force, to move their names back up to the "active list". Those still remaining on the "inactive list" at the end of March will be removed. –MuZemike 19:36, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Argh, if I can only remember how the GameBoy version of the Game Genie went. Unfortunately, I never had one, but I know one of my relatives did. That doesn't mean much, however. A better solution I think would be a better, more illustrative picture of the Game Boy with the Game Genie. Additionally, it can be argued that it doesn't need to be in the Game Boy article though it may be relevant in the Game Genie article. –MuZemike 06:12, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Princess Daisy

I have started a page for Daisy at my sandbox. I have copied the article from Super Mario Wiki. It needs to be modified for Wikipedia standards. Please help me fix it before I create it. JDDJS (talk) 16:51, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Don't forget to include {{CCBYSASource}}, it looks like Super Mario Wiki is CC-BY-SA only. Anomie 18:03, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Can you please add it for me? I am unsure on how to do it and I want it to be done correctly.JDDJS (talk) 18:35, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to have to provide some constructive criticism, but see my comment here. –MuZemike 20:27, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
(ec)Done. But to be fair, much of that page seems to be WP:OR or unreliable sources. I wish you the best luck meeting WP:GNG with Daisy, but I'm not sure that starting from a crufty page will be the easiest. —Ost (talk) 21:33, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Doesn't {{CCBYSASource}} go at the bottom? WP:Licensing says the notification should be "identified either on the page footer, in the page history or the discussion page of the article that utilizes the text". Anomie 00:58, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry. It was already there and I had missed it. —Ost (talk) 12:30, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Pit

I've started collecting sources for good old Pit in the hopes of finding enough to justify giving him an article. Though it's in my userspace, please note anyone may edit it to add references or anything, as long its not outright vandalism. Harry Blue5 (talk) 21:49, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

As you said on my talkpage, I added some sources, but that was all I was about to find at the moment. I think you have a nice pile there, and if it got any bigger you could split the article. Although, it will have to be re-written from what it was before. Blake (Talk·Edits) 22:38, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
On another note, do you think that the article should be at Pit (Nintendo) or Pit (Kid Icarus). Personally I prefer (Kid Icarus), but since it used to be at (Nintendo), I'm not sure. Harry Blue5 (talk) 23:04, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
If we can't get enough sources to give Pit his own article, perhaps we could restore Kid Icarus (series) and include the information on him, as well as other recurring characters, there. It would seem as, in my opinion, unnecessary (and a bit messy) to include on either of the two games, and he's one of the few recurring elements in the series. Of course, we should try and find some sources for things other than Pit if we do that, otherwise the article may as well just be about Pit, but with other things stapled on. Harry Blue5 (talk) 19:47, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
Alright, a bunch of more sources found, what do you think about an article on Kid Icarus (series) or Pit (Kid Icarus) now? Harry Blue5 (talk) 20:26, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
Try actually writing a series article out of it. If the series article doesn't work, then I think the Pit article should work. Blake (Talk·Edits) 21:11, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
It isn't completely finished (I need to give plot summary's for the second and third game and add some other minor characters), but here's what I've done so far. Harry Blue5 (talk) 22:45, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
IGN just released exactly what you need. You Don't Know Kid Icarus - Wii Feature at IGN. It talks elusively about the character of Pit, and you could use it to source the meat(characteristics, appearances) of your Pit article. Blake (Talk·Edits) 03:09, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Well that's just fabulous. Okay, I think Pit will be able to stand as an article outside his series now, I'll knock something up in my sandbox. Harry Blue5 (talk) 14:39, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Okay, it's not perfect, but do you think it's good to go? Harry Blue5 (talk) 15:18, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
I think you should make an "appearances" section which stated what games he appeared in and what his role in them was. Also you could expand on characteristics. That is the meat of the article, what the readers actually care about. Blake (Talk·Edits) 19:55, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
How about now? Harry Blue5 (talk) 23:43, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Looks a lot better, but could be a lot better still. "Characteristics" should say more about who he is(what he looks like, how he acts, etc). I haven't looked at the "You Don't Know Kid Icarus" source in detail, but I thought that would be perfect for sourcing Characteristics and Appearances. I think the appearances section is possibly done, but the characteristics needs a lot more fluff. Don't be afraid to use some original research if you have to. For wanting to make a "WikiProject Fictional Characters", you don't seem to know much about making a character article. lol
Anyways, I think the article could be split now. I doubt anybody would object. Blake (Talk·Edits) 02:01, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Also, you should probably history merge the article to Pit (Nintendo), and then move the article over to Pit (character). After that is done, use the image from Pit's Brawl page, since that is where he has the most detail, and he is most known from there. You maybe could also use that brawl page to source some of his characteristics. Blake (Talk·Edits) 02:30, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
You were supposed to history merge the article with "Pit (Nintendo)" THEN move it. D: I couldn't care either way what name it stays at, but having the history all in one place is probably important. I will upload the image I guess, and then request the merge. Blake (Talk·Edits) 14:01, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Bah, I didn't use any edits from the original Pit (Nintendo), apart from the cameos which I also rewrote slightly. Harry Blue5 (talk) 17:26, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Renaming Kirby Wii

I'm new here and I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I was trying to rename the Kirby (2011 video game) article to the game's current title, Kirby Wii. Unfortunately, there's page already named Kirby Wii (a page that just redirects me back to Kirby (2011 video game)) and it's blocking me from making the name change. What should I do? --Newimagekirby (talk) 20:43, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Joining

How do I join the Nintendo Task Force? I'm new to Wikipedia, and I don't have a membership WikiProject Video games. Please give me a hand. --Nathan2055talk 02:40, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Nathan. Glad you're joining us.
I'm not sure if you want to join the more general project video games or if you want to join the more specific Nintendo project. Generally, though, what you do is simply edit the members section, adding your signature to the list.
You can also (completely optional) place the project's userbox on your personal user page if you would like. Best way to find the Wiki code is to hit CTRL + F (or APPLE + F) on the project page, and search for user box. Then you'll simply copy the userbox code, go to your personal page, hit "edit," then copy the code into the edit box, and hit "Save."
You can write on my talk page if you have more questions.--Jp07 (talk) 04:20, 1 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your help! I've joined, and I'm adding the userbox to my page. --Nathan2055talk 02:05, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Skull Kid article needs attention please

Is the IGN coverage about him [2] and being on a UGO top 27 out 50 list [3] count towards notability? Has anyone read any magazines that give coverage towards this character? Please join the discussion on the talk page [4]. It list itself is being part of this Wikiproject and taskgroup so I figured I'd mention some want to eliminate it and merge a token bit of data to list article. I think an article that "has been viewed 5341 times in the last 30 days" [5] is something worth looking for sources for. Dream Focus 20:43, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

The article Pikkapika Comics has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Failure to assess notability or coverage as per WP:N, possible OR

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Super Mario 64 and "Super Mario FX"

Hi! I was searching through a fansite when I found a page discussing "Super Mario FX"...

http://www.snescentral.com/article.php?id=1032

The Super Mario 64 article uses this IGN article as a source, but the above site argues that IGN likely had sourced it from an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto in a Nintendo Power issue (I can't tell exactly which year and day it is) but that IGN got what the interview said wrong.

"If you read the IGN page, it is obvious that they were looking at the above article (which mentions the five year development schedule). The only problem is that if you actually read the article, it simply states that he got the idea for making a 3D Mario game while making Star Fox (which was in development five years previous to the publication of the article), not that he was actually developing a Super FX Mario game. Nintendo announced Project Reality in August 1993 - only a half a year after the initial release of Star Fox. It is implausible that Miyamoto would work on a Super FX Mario game while also working on the Nintendo 64 hardware."

So he proceeded to contact Dylan Cuthbert on Twitter, and got this: http://twitter.com/#!/dylancuthbert/statuses/165596909413728256

  • Fansite operator: "I'm researching unreleased SNES games, was a game called "Super Mario FX" ever in development?"
  • Cuthbert: "no, that was the internal code name for the FX chip"

So that means that "Super Mario FX" has nothing to do with Super Mario 64, and that the IGN source is faulty, correct? WhisperToMe (talk) 04:19, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

These concerns should be taken directly to the article's talk page. :) Salvidrim! 04:24, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Well, they could move there. But it's good to let the entire project know, especially in light of the fact that the page is a featured article. Again, it's fine if the venue moves to the article talk page, but I wanted to let the entire project know about this. WhisperToMe (talk) 04:29, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
