Text JMA advisories[edit]

JMA advisories can be found here; they are overwritten with each new advisory, so they should be archived using WebCite. --Coredesat 07:47, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Typhoon Committee[edit]

Has it met yet?. Jason Rees 04:03, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was scheduled for November 21-26: [2] HkCaGu 05:53, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks i have managed to find an english langague source for the replacement names it also looks as if there was no Retired storms this year Jason Rees (talk) 01:51, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not surprised, since there weren't any real brutal storms (to WPAC standards) - the deadliest storm was only a TD according to the JMA (a JTWC TS)... CrazyC83 (talk) 23:17, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PAGASA did not officially named a storm "Nonoy"[edit]

Although PAGASA declared that there would be a possiblity of a storm entering the PAR and that they would name it "Nonoy" while the storms "Lando and "Mina" were devastating the country, it never happened. I could not see any tropical storm advisory from the PAGASA website since morning of November 29, 2007. -Pika ten10 (talk) 04:08, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You sure? There are several news bulletins for a storm called Nonoy, while Lando and Mina were active. --Hurricanehink (talk) 04:17, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Where did you see those news bulletins??? Take note that what the PAGASA website declares is official in the Philippine weather (it's their official website), while what the news declares on weather is not necessarily official. -Pika ten10 (talk) 10:30, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that, but the news bulletins listed below call the depression Nonoy (several say clearly that PAGASA classified it as Nonoy). I think it would be odd for the news sites to call it Nonoy when PAGASA never named it. --Hurricanehink (talk) 16:02, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
PAGASA said that they only classified it as, in my own words, as a potential tropical depression. However, I reiterate I haven't noticed a storm named like "Nonoy". -Pika ten10 (talk) 03:11, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't see it on the PAGASA website - but I wasn't really checking it very often. - SpLoT // 14:28, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The following links mention the depression being named "Nonoy" - [3], [4], [5], and [6], some of which clearly say that PAGASA named the depression. --Hurricanehink (talk) 16:41, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
One of your references say that depression, to be named "Nonoy", is only brewing. It means it has never formed. Note: A brewing beer is not totally a beer, but a 'potential beer'. -Pika ten10 (talk) 03:16, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I'm leaning toward Nonoy not being used, given these edits - [7] and [8]. If anyone wants to remove the reference to Nonoy, feel free to. Sorry I was being so difficult everyone! --♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:49, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
According to Typhoon 2000 Pagasa did not name 25W Nor 26W Nando but they have not added all of the PAGASA Storms yet.Jason Rees (talk) 21:27, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I did not see any bulletins for Nonoy which is why I took it off when Mina and Lando were active. TY2000 stormlog only shows 13 named storms of 2007 right nowStormLog 2007. - グリフオーザー (talk) 01:55, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning Hagibis und Mitag[edit]

Great Coastal Gale of 2007 states that the remnants of Hagibis and Mitag enhanced the effects of the storm that bashed Oregon, Washington and BC.

  1. Could this be verified?
  2. If affirmative, probably should the fact included into this article?

The claim obviously origins in this newspaper artcile. However a more "official" source should be found. --Matthiasb-DE (talk) 16:03, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's some info on the storms here, from the NWS, but none of the links mention any relation to Hagibis or Mitag. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 16:27, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Meanwhile I found this and I guess it's a reliable source. --Matthiasb-DE (talk) 20:50, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Footnotes[edit]

Im commented out former fn 7 (final adv JMA), since the webcitation.org link was an archived final adv of JTWC. -- see http://www.webcitation.org/5NzvKgY51 --Matthiasb-DE (talk) 15:31, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hagibis and Mitag[edit]

When did Hagibis become a cat1? I saw a few days ago and it was still listed as a cat2. --96.224.242.247 (talk) 15:17, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

JTWC released its 2007 best track and downgraded Hagibis to a cat1-equivalent typhoon. -Ramisses (talk) 15:41, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sepat trackmap[edit]

Now, almost every storm listed here has a track map except for Sepat and a tropical depression that is only recognized by TMD. I don't know how to use the track program. --IrfanFaiz 10:37, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit war[edit]

The 1-minute peak for Man-Yi at 125 knots is correct. The best track for the 2007 season was released a few weeks ago by the JTWC [9]. The JMA best track should be used as well [10]Potapych (talk) 19:26, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it was stated in this discussion three weeks ago. For me, it wasn't edit war, it was vandalism. -Ramisses (talk) 19:41, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The anonymous IP editor does not understand what "best track" is and is not listening. I suggest protecting this article from IP edits. HkCaGu (talk) 00:12, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I support. Ramisses (talk) 00:55, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Storms that may require articles[edit]

It seems that the storms that impact Japan are given an article of its own, but there are other storms that are more in need of a separate article than Typhoon Fitow. Typhoon Man-Yi, Super Typhoon Wipha, and Super Typhoon Krosa should be given articles. I'll try to start them tonight but I've never created a main article for a typhoon/hurricane so I'm going to need a lot of guidance with it. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 12:51, 8 July 2008 (UTC) Typhoon Usagi might meet the requirements for an article. Damages from Usagi totaled to $500 million [11] Cyclonebiskit (talk) 13:03, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Season format[edit]

I've begun a sandbox for this article using the new season format (see 2007 Atlantic hurricane season or 2006 Pacific hurricane season for a good idea of what it is). It will likely take some time before it is complete but once it is, this article (the one currently in the mainspace) will be converted into the "List of storms in the..." article, preserving all the edits that were made to this article. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 12:45, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mitag[edit]

Apparently, User:Cyclonebiskit created a draft sometime ago, last edited last February, however it looks pretty go, so it could already be time to move it. BTW here's the link User:Cyclonebiskit/Sandbox1 112.203.184.112 (talk) 12:45, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
