As of 30th April 2012, I have cleared up the link rot and cited the list of references correctly inline and added further company information. Is this ok? Is there any way that I can improve upon its structure or cites?

The current copy on this page is incorrect - a lot has changed since this page was last edited. I've written new copy for the page (I'm an Alpari employee) and it's been signed off by our Compliance department. Can someone have a look and if they feel it's appropriate make the changes? The association of Alpari companies (Alpari Group) is a global foreign exchange (FX, forex), precious metals and CFD broker. It was founded in 1998 by Andrey Vedikhin, Andrey Dashin and Gleb Petrov.

Alpari (UK) Ltd (Alpari UK) was founded in 2004 as part of Alpari Group, and is the company's head office. Alpari UK opened international offices in the UAE in 2008 and Germany in 2010. It launched its representative office in China in 2008, and established a subsidiary office in Japan in 2011.

Alpari UK enables retail, professional and institutional clients to trade on various electronic trading platforms, including MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, which allows traders to apply Expert Advisor strategies. For UK and Republic of Ireland clients, Alpari UK also offers financial spread betting on forex, commodities and indices.

Alpari UK also provides market research and tools including a newsroom, live market webinars, an economic calendar and trading calculators.

Alpari UK has a number of global sponsorships:

In February 2013 Alpari UK became the principal sponsors of West Ham United. The sponsorship started in the 2013/14 season and is due to run for three years.

In April 2013 Alpari UK formed Team Alpari FX, a professional sailing team led by former world champion skipper Adam Minoprio of New Zealand. For 2014, the team is led by Australian skipper Keith Swinton.

In February 2012 Alpari UK became title sponsor of the World Match Racing Tour, renaming it to the Alpari World Match Racing Tour (AWMRT), for a five-year partnership.

Examples of previous sponsorships:

Alpari UK sponsored the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships for the 2012, 2013 and 2014 championships.

In April 2013 Alpari UK sponsored the MENA 11th Forex Show in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) as a strategic partner.

In 2011 Alpari UK was the headline sponsor of the London Investor FOREX show at Earls Court.

Hi A ward87, thanks for your proposal and declaring your interest but I feel there are a few issues here and thought I would explain why I have reverted your version, as an employee it is very difficult to maintain a neutral point of view see WP:NPOV and can lead to a conflict of interest WP:COI which is why Wikipedia guidelines strongly discourage such editing. The fact that Alpari compliance approves this does not matter here. The important aspect is that all information is referenced by third party sources see Wikipedia:Verifiability and this has not been the case with your proposed text and that it should not be promotional WP:promo which I think it has been. I agree that the current version is confusing and if you feel that you can add content from a neutral point that would be great. However your version does not clear up this confusion, the interesting points that could be cleared up would be how Alpari UK and Alpari group are associated and it would be good to get better information on the founding and who was involved as there are four different names mentioned without saying what they did and also more information on the period when the company was registered in Cyprus, but again these should be referenced from independent third party sources and be written from a neutral point of view. Multinational

I have no intention to engage in an edit war, but it seems to me that Alpari fits the Wikipedia's own definition of multinational corporation:

A multinational corporation (MNC) or multinational enterprise is an organization that owns or controls production of goods or services in one or more countries other than their home country.

How do I persuade Sargdub not to remove "multinational" status? Or am I missing some arguments as to why Alpari does not fit the definition? Enivid (talk) 07:33, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

In reply to Envid's comment, the main issue I have is with scale, the definition for multinational says it controls productions of goods or services in more than one country and further down in the article it says "...usually a large corporation....". However, Alapri is a small broker that primarily operates from one or possibly two location and has a few small representative offices in other countries. It does not have production in a number of countries and offering an online service that can be accessed from anywhere in the world does not qualify as multinational as every one man company who has a web site could claim this. I have seen this term misused a lot by small companies trying to make themselves look bigger than they really are and I feel this is the case here. I feel to suggest this company is multinational is misleading and suggests a much bigger operations and does not do a good job in describing the company from a WP:NPOV and makes it a less useful article for the Wikipedia reader. The usual problem with binary options brokers

@Sargdub, Nagle, Brianhe, and Coretheapple: This article is having the usual problems that accompany most articles on binary options brokers. Promotional tone, unreliable sources, doesn't get updated to reflect regulatory actions. About the only positive info I can find is that the company claims to be registered in Mauritius. Since it was declared insolvent in the UK in early 2015, and lost its membership in the National Futures Association in the US a few months later (as well as it's right to trade in the US) I can't find any reliable sources. @Smallbones: I am a little concerned about the "is or was" phraseology in the lead sentence. Alpari says its UK insolvency does not affect other companies. Short answer is that I don't think we can trust any Alpari website, we need a reliable independent source that says it still exists in any meaningful form.

All this needs to be double checked, but I can't find anything after mid-2015 that says they exist in a form other than a nominee's mailbox and a website. Since they very publicly were kicked out of the US, and were declared insolvent in the UK (final final closing and payout expected in July 2017). What I can find are licenses in Mauritius and Belize (both pre-2015) made by nominees, so these businesses exist pretty much in the form of a mailbox. To the extent that I can find out, these licenses only apply to people living in Mauritius and Belize, which means less than nothing in terms of international financial markets. Licenses from any two other countries would be at least as meaningful. There is a statement on an Alpari website that they are regulated in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, but that is misleading. They are registered as a corporation (only) for 2017 in St.V&G, but apparently not licensed to do business there. There's a "self-regulatory" body, "The Financial Commission" noted on their website, but this again means less than nothing - there's no evidence anywhere that this organization exists anywhere or is recognized by anybody. There's note of a sponsorship agreement with the West Ham football club - which has long gone down the drain (the agreement that is). There's a statement saying BDO is the auditor - but there are no links to any financial statements. There is a 2010? license from the Central Bank of Russia, but according to a source once included here, it couldn't be used because they were not part of a recognized self-regulatory organization. So in short there's almost nothing indicating that they are still alive, and when you scratch the surface of the few indications there are, it just looks like dust. OK, I think you're basically right. However the "was or is" phraseology is a bit awkward and I think we should rethink it. I would go for "is" as they do have a website, they do have licenses out on some island somewhere, even if they are not doing business. Alpari was granted a license by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus on 23 June, 2016 (http://www.nbrb.by/finsector/forex/register), and was licensed (as a Forex broker) by the Russian Central Bank on November 28, 2016 (http://www.cbr.ru/publ/vestnik/vestnik/ves161207106.pdf). Alpari Group is a binary options, foreign exchange, precious metals, and CFD broker that has a record of insolvency and regulatory difficulties. The company's UK entity entered insolvency on January 19, 2015, following heavy losses trading the Swiss franc against the euro. In April 2015, the company's US NFA membership was revoked, preventing them from offering their services in the United States.

The company is licensed to trade in

• Belarus
• Belize, and
• Mauritius

The company is also licensed to trade in Russia though, as of November 28, 2016, it was still unable to operate in Russia because it was not a member of an approved self-regulatory organization. The company's charter is registered in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Alpari Research & Analysis Limited, which gives a London address, provides only research and analysis and is not licensed to trade.

Andrey Valerievich Dashin claims ownership of both Alpari and another foreign exchange broker FXTM also known as ForexTime.

  • I feel pretty much the same way. If info on the company is so hard to find, then perhaps the best solution is just to delete all these companies. OTOH, they don't always stay deleted and perhaps if we put out so much bad info on them for so long, correcting the info now is the best idea. I'd guess there are another 15-20 companies like this.
