Some changes[edit]

I've recast the article to be a little more neutral and a little less repetitious, which meant a little reorganization.

Also, Black Rock's web page refers to its bacon vodka as "Bakon Vodka" in text, not to "BAKONVODKA" or "BAKON VODKA", which appears in their wordmark.

Did you know[edit]

Wow, from article creation to front page in four days![edit]

yes, I read WP:Sarcasm ...but seriously... a WHOLE ARTICLE on Bacon Vodka? There's a Vodka infusion article and a Vodka article with a "Flavoring" section where the Bacon vodka might have been merged in. I would understand if there were a bunch of x-flavoured vodka articles, then this article would make an interesting addition to the grouping. Oh well... Containing the information in this article in the Vodka article, or even the vodka infusion article, would raise serious concerns over undue weight. As far as the need/ desirability of other Vodka type articles, I don't see any problem with creating them if the subjects meet our inclusion guidelines. This is a pageless encyclopedia.
There is now a maple bacon donut article, and I've antipated objections from those pointing out that this is "merely" a type of donut. But it's a notable type and the extent of the content would overwhelm the main donut article. And as far as why there aren't articles on Boston cremes, jelly donuts, and other types? I think that's an excellent question. And what about jelly donut vodka?
Certainly the appropriateness of merging content needs to be considered. But for a counter example: Bacon salt and baconnaise were merged into the bacon article. And I think it was the wrong move as there's now too much content on these loosely related subjects (bacon salt contains no bacon). So there you go. And finally, sarcasm is best served up in heaps, humor with subtlety and irony needs to be dripping and gooey. ChildofMidnight (talk) 18:41, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, in the defense of all that is this article, BAKON - the brand, is notable enough to have its own article so there's really no point in merging it to bacon when Bakon would be the appropriate place. Law type! snype? 02:37, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Most topics—in the world, not just in Wikipedia—are fundamentally sub-topics of other subjects. And as a rule, some sub-topics are more notable than others. This sub-topic of "vodka" or "vodka infusions" unambiguously meets the notability guidelines—any beef with the topic's inclusion is either WP:IDONTLIKEIT or belongs at WT:NOTE (or at beef vodka). There are probably many notable vodka infusions that are not currently covered in detail. The correct place for them is possibly in separate articles or in articles on categories (fruit infusions, spice infusions, or whatnot). If someone suggests a merger of this content with content on other notable meat-infused vodkas, that would be worth contemplating seriously. Bongomatic 02:51, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Allusion to this article in popular culture[edit]

In MaryJanice Davidson's novel, Undead and Unfinished (2010, Berkley Sensation), on page 41, is the following:

"Here she was pulling out a bottle - ugh, chili pepper-flavored vodka. Like a drink made from potatoes wasn't yuck-o enough.

"Nope, she didn't want pepper-flavored. Back into the freezer it went. Here came cinnamon. Somewhat better, I s'pose, but nope, she didn't want that one, either. Here came - aw, no! Bacon! Bacon-flavored vodka! (I swear to God I am not making this up. Wikipedia it if you don't believe me.)"

Undue Weight[edit]

Bacon vodka has been around for many years. Devoting 2/3 of the article to a single brand that's only been around since 2009 is a violation of Wikipedia's policy on undue weight, as well as their policy on product advertising/promotion; indeed, it reads more like an infomercial for Bakon Vodka than an encyclopedia article. Unless someone can provide compelling reasons to keep it the way it is, I'm going to cut the Bakon Vodka parts down to a couple of paragraphs.DoctorEric (talk) 15:18, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Methinks someone working for Bakon keeps coming back and adding material from their website. Just pulled a bunch again, and added (brief) info about another brand just to spread the love. Though it's arguable whether Bakon should even be mentioned, given that it uses chemical flavorings and doesn't contain a molecule of actual bacon?
