Liquor and 'Nana Pudding[edit]

Bake?[edit]

While I realize that even though I have had banana pudding from many different families' recipes and none of them have been baked (nor would it be possible at all to bake pudding [US meaning, which is more restrictive than British] unless you just wanted it yucky yellow-colored mush, it is possible that some recipes, somehow, bake the banana pudding. However, I feel fairly confident that most of us who make it (I'm about to make it for dessert tonight) simply mix up the ingredients, layer it in the dish, and then refrigerate it for a while, maybe a couple of hours, to get it "set" -- to make it a little firmer. Probably the article should cite a couple of recipes, or at least major variations on recipes. I have had it with sour cream, with condensed milk, with whipped cream, and I just saw a recipe for it with cream cheese.

Is there an actual pudding made from bananas?[edit]

The article, as is briefly mentioned within, discusses some kind of concoction that resembles a short-cut trifle utilizing commercially produced cookies. Okay, but what I am interested in is an actual pudding made from cooked bananas, not a vanilla pudding with sliced bananas that are used only as a garnish. Is there really no way of doing that? I am from the south (USA) myself and from my personal point of view, this is just another obnoxious gimmicky dessert (like that awful red velvet stuff >_< ) that avoids skilled cooking and baking techniques. ADDENDUM: It seems like American baby food companies readily manufacture and sell banana pudding so I see no reason why we at home cannot do the same. Thanks again, Wordreader (talk) 21:21, 14 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
