"Category:Evaporators is a child of Category:Distillation and Category:Water desalination, so this is excessive categorization per WP:OC"
No, because this isn't a defining relationship. Not all evaporators are used for water desalination, thus we can't imply this about sub cats of it.
Secondly, evaporators like this (and especially Chaplin's, in its historical context) have particularly close links with Category:Marine steam propulsion and belong within it. The parent categories aren't needed, so why not move this article's categorization into that cat? However that's not what the IP address has been doing, it has just been stripping cats wholesale. I didn't move it to Category:Marine steam propulsion because it is not a propulsion unit. However, you could have done that. I stripped Category:Marine propulsion because it isn't a propulsion unit. 70.49.127.65 (talk) 11:29, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rename?[edit]

Chaplin's Patent Distilling Apparatus is a little more terse, gives the essence of what this is about more clearly and it also follows the printed advert (presumed to be the source for the name) more clearly.

Thoughts? Andy Dingley (talk) 11:03, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. —Guanaco 07:07, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
