chicken nuggets[edit]

So, are these essentially the same as chicken nuggets? — The Storm Surfer 01:36, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

United States[edit]

I'd have to argue that these aren't unheard of in the U.S. Although I've never heard them referred to as "chicken balls," as they're described it basically sounds like the same friend chicken you'd get in any American Chinese restaurant. Tomdobb

There is a distinction, different interpretations. The Chinese food we get in the USA is often unique to the USA. I would dare say most Chinese restaurants would argue the chicken they serve is NOT just fried chicken. AfD if you want, but I hope you don't let unfamiliarity with the subject be your guide. There are lots of kinds of chicken balls; any chicken made into a ball shape can rightly and has been referred to by that name. I don't have the culinary expertise or interest to make such a distinction clear in the article. –Pomte 00:48, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion proposal[edit]

Keep - No compelling reason (or, for that matter, any reason at all) provided for the deletion of this page. Page is eminently referenced. Badagnani (talk) 01:38, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Numerous sources show that this is on the menus of many Canadian Chinese restaurants. http://www.reddeerbuffet.ca/menu.html http://www.hinglungchinesefood.com/menulisting.html http://thegreatwok.sites.toronto.com/Menu_Contd.html Badagnani (talk) 01:41, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Excessive use of PROD on an article with established notability, and clearly indicated history of good faith edits made minutes before PROD attached. Jacksinterweb (talk) 01:58, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure Jerem43 was acting in good faith to follow through with a proposal by the original prodder to Wikipedia:WikiProject Food and drink and just neglected to check the page history. –Pomte 11:40, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although it looks like the point is moot now, I'd encourage people to look at the orignal prod [1] before deciding whether the article deserves to stay. I will acknowledge that since my original prod, several edits have been made and sources have been added and some notability has been established. I still think this article needs quite a bit of work. For one, the assertion that they are unheard of in the U.S. is basically false, although I don't have a specific source. Anyway, thanks to all the "chicken balls" fans who stepped up to improve the article. It's much better now than when I placed the initial prod. Tomdobb (talk) 13:19, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Next time, please contribute here first (not later--we're just seeing you for the first time today, December 21). Spend a few minutes to improve the article yourself, or discuss the deficiencies here. This is a collaborative project and "tagging and running" isn't usually a very helpful practice.
