Incomplete -- need help[edit]

Hey, I know there was more than one game... but I'm having trouble finding references for them! Anyone?--Paul McDonald 17:00, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Never-mind... found them!--Paul McDonald 15:47, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merging[edit]

Basically the Mirage Bowl renamed. There is simply no need for separate articles. Saget53 (talk) 16:51, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is one reason not to merge--the "other sports" section of Coca-Cola Classic... the Coca-Cola company sponsors other events and uses the name. Is that enough to not merge? Dunno... but it is worth considering.--Paul McDonald (talk) 20:13, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nah. I'd support merging this. It's no different than the Chick-fil-A Bowl/Peach Bowl divide. JKBrooks85 (talk) 08:18, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Merge the articles, but I'm not sure in which direction. The NCAA does consider the games to be one and the same: "Called Mirage Bowl 1976-85, Coca-Cola Classic from 1986. Played at Tokyo Olympic Memorial Stadium 1976-87, Tokyo Dome from 1988-93." (2007 NCAA Division I Record Book, p. 374). Strikehold (talk) 04:29, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Should be merged. For bowl games that change names, don't we generally have the article under the last/current name? This might indicate Coca-Cola Classic should be the title of the merged article. -Kgwo1972 (talk) 02:36, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
For current games that is definitely true (Chick-fil-A Bowl rather than Peach Bowl), but for long-defunct games, I'm not sure. I would think it more appropriate to use the most well-known title rather than the most recent. Strikehold (talk) 06:42, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The most well-known standard also works for me. I just don't have a clue which that is, do you? (I'd guess Coca-Cola Classic, but I'll believe whatever you say here.) Anyway, this issue has been lingering for a while -- would be good to get it wrapped up this week. -Kgwo1972 (talk) 13:51, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, not sure, but I'd also guess Coca-Cola Classic. Unfortunately, both "mirage bowl" and "Coca-Cola Classic" have other meanings, so it's hard to directly compare through Google hits. Don't think it is really that big of a deal though. I support a merge to Coca-Cola Classic, if no one else objects. Strikehold (talk) 14:07, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
