Needs rewrite from independent sources[edit]

This article is poor to the point it qualifies for deletion. It needs a complete rewrite from reliable and independent sources. --Ronz (talk) 22:03, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article can certainly be improved (eg, info on the history of Creole cream cheese is currently lacking). The subject is a notable bit of local culinary culture - you can list it for proposed deletin if you wish, but I would oppose. -- Infrogmation (talk) 22:52, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So how do we treat local culinary culture properly for an encyclopedia article? Not with press releases and local interest stories. --Ronz (talk) 23:16, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You use the best sources you can, but you don't remove content that isn't realistically disputed. I appreciate that the editing now appears to be moving forward in a productive manner. I agree with Candleabracadabra that when Blue Bell (a notable company with considerable mystique in that part of the country) revives its commercial distribution of this "endangered" flavor, it's worth including in the article; the source is used only to verify an objective fact and is reliable for that purpose. --Arxiloxos (talk) 23:51, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So their press releases are noteworthy because they are?! No. It's notable when independent sources say so.
We have a ton of trivial detail based upon highly questionable sources. The information simply doesn't belong without better sources.
It's clear that content is being added without regard to related content, what would be considered encyclopedic, or the quality of sources. As a result, we have mostly a prose list of companies and events that highlight the product.
"you don't remove content that isn't realistically disputed" You mean like all the information that I restored that was removed as "disruptive" [1]? If so, I agree. Otherwise, the statement is meaningless as far as I can tell. I removed information that was in my opinion trivia and undue. There's lots more to be removed if independent sources are not forthcoming. --Ronz (talk) 00:31, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've expanded all the references for easy examination and proper identification. Since we now have at least a few good sources is it time to rewrite from them, removing all the trivia? --Ronz (talk) 17:44, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've started with a 2012 summer restaurant guide being used as a reference. --Ronz (talk) 03:19, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
