Persad caste?[edit]

While the whole article is in desperate need to references, I have never heard any story of doubles originating with the "Persad" caste. The Naps story I have heard all my life, and I have heard a claim that the father of the "Ali's doubles" brother invented doubles, but not this story. The Doubles was not an invention but rather an evolution, In the 1930's the barrah and channa was sold seperately. The barrah was sold with chutney for 1 cent while the curried channa was sold for 1 cent as well. Of course there had to be some pepper involved. The vendor would also be selling fried channa as well wrapped in a cone of brown paper.

The doubles evolved from a barrah with chutney no channa involved, to selling the single barrah and curried channa. In the 1950's the selling of the single barrah and channa changed when boys at the Naparima College used to ask for a Double up on the barrah. Origins[edit]

Someone needs to provide accurate information and sources, remember that people from all over the world is seeing this article and we do not want to be shamed as a country if we cannot provide real sources and information on one of our major foods. As far as i am concerned, no one really knows who "invented" doubles. This is because it wasn't INVENTED, it was DEVELOPED and the fact that Deens Doubles themselves edited this articles tells me that there is a personal agenda. I wonder if it would be possible to also include how there are several vendors throughout the nation, and beyond, that serve doubles. It does seem to favour only Mamoodeen, but it would be great to talk about the various legacies of other well-known vendors both in the North and South of Trinidad. Number of bara?[edit]

From the article: "It is a sandwich made with two bara (flat fried bread)." Granted, I haven't spent a lot of time in Trinidad, but when I've been there, all the doubles I've eaten have been served on a single piece of bara, folded in half. More like a taco than a sandwich.
