Origins of the sausage[edit]

I remember reading somewhere that these sausages were originally made and handed out for the elections of the Holy Roman Emperor/King of Germany sometime in the 14th or 15th century. I don't remember where I read this. Can anyone find a reliable source on this? Thanks. Lockesdonkey (talk) 05:23, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
