Eliminate the redirect from Hofbrau[edit]

While in San Francisco recently, I visited a restaurant known as Lefty's - http://www.leftyodouls.biz/ - where they had cafeteria-style food service which the staff and regulars referred to as "the Hofbrau." Additionally, there are several restaurants throughout the United States that have this cafeteria-style food service which go by the name Hofbrau. See - http://www.hofbraurestaurant.com/ -, - http://www.thehofbrau.com/ -, - http://www.harryshofbrau.com/ -, - http://www.samshofbrau.com/ -. As such, I am of the opinion that the redirect from Hofbrau to Hofbräuhaus should be eliminated and an article covering Hofbrau as a food service style and/or United States restaurant/restaurant chain should be created with a redirect from Hof brau to same. // Internet Esquire (talk) 15:28, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

After removing the redirect, I discovered that there was an enormous amount of relevant content in the historical versions of this article. Just one more example of misguided Wikipedia exclusionism.
As noted in the various restaurant websites, hofbraus are a key ingredient of the history and culture of the San Francisco Bay Area. // Internet Esquire (talk) 23:02, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Welp that (sourced) history and culture has been erased from this wikipedia article for the past few years. Old versions of this article are more interesting and useful. Few outside of California even call these cafeteria/carvery places hofbraus but all the Northern California-ness has been completely stripped out. 2601:640:8980:CAC0:3777:FFFE:2B07:282E (talk) 05:22, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
