Carolina African Runner[edit]

I just came across this:

I was hoping to find out why peanuts would have been imported to the southern US from Africa if they are originally from the Americas. GA-RT-22 (talk) 17:21, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2 errors in 'Cultivation' section[edit]

Hello, the 'Cultivation' section contains

one typo (after a "." the "p" of the first word of the following sentence should be "P")

and one misplaced sentence (describing the appearance of the pods, seemingly slipped in by mistake - surely really belonging to the plant description section; definitely not fitting in with the description of the harvesting process).

I fixed the typo but you'd have to be more specific about the other problem. GA-RT-22 (talk) 14:14, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Peanut

A peanut, also known as a groundnut, is the fruit of the Arachis hypogaea plant, in the family Fabaceae. The peanut is classed as a grain legume rather than as a botanical nut, although in culinary and colloquial use it is generally treated as a nut. Uses of peanuts include consumption as a snack and in various dishes, peanut butter, and - due to its high oil content - as a vegetable oil. Peanuts also cause allergic reactions in some humans. This photograph shows a peanut in its shell, with the shell cracked open, shelled, and peeled.
