Question[edit]

In my experience the sausage is typically griddled, sometimes grilled (usually at establishments that also serve ribs), but never deep fried. Enigmakairos (talk) 16:10, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't live in Cleveland anymore, so I can't say who deep fries them and who doesn't, but there were a couple places I've had it them that did (and/or still do). Back in the 80's when I was working at a store around Prospect and E.9th, there was a diner called Diane's (long gone now that the ballpark is the dominant neighborhood feature) where I got carryout from at least once a week, and they deep fried the Polish... and they pretty much deep fried everything there. Like you said, in a BBQ joint they'll grill em. It likely depends on where you go and what they serve. Ryecatcher773 (talk) 16:35, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship to the po' boy sandwich[edit]

You've got to be kidding me that this article doesn't mention that the name "Polish boy" is probably a takeoff on po' boy, the name of a similar sandwich from New Orleans. There's even a reference in the current version of the article to the Polish boy having been referred to as "soul on white," implying that it's a blend of southern (African American) and white (Polish) culinary elements. 173.88.246.138 (talk) 21:27, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
