Andrew Jones[edit]

Is Andrew Jones still lead concept artist in Retro? I didn't see him styled as such in the Metroid Wii credits. ----217.132.73.153 12:36, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm looking into this, I'll make a few phone calls and correct the section accordingly. UnlivedPhalanx (talk) 21:13, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Andrew Jones was a hired art contractor according to the people I contacted. He was listed as an additional talent in the Metroid Prime 3 credits. He does not count as studio personnel and I removed him from the "key people" list. If anything Mark Pacini needs to be up there as well. UnlivedPhalanx (talk) 00:27, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rumor(s)[edit]

Wiki is not a crystal ball. I am removing the Rumor section because not only has it not been confirmed, but it is totally irrational. First of all, 1Up is not a good source, and secondly, just because they mentioned they won;t make it for a Sony system doesn't mean it will be on the 360. Thats why I am removing it. If this in event becomes true, which I doubt, I will personally add the section back again. 71.82.43.32 22:28, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All current rumors are confirmed false and rumors should be properly corrected unless references to creditable sources can be made. UnlivedPhalanx (talk) 21:13, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MPH Developed by Retro Studios?[edit]

In the beginning intro it says "Special Thanks - Retro Studios". Metroid Prime Hunters was developed by Nintendo Software Technology (NST). I won't change it since they obviously contributed to the game.-MF14

I believe this is the same poster who has practically ruined every Nintendo developer game list by insisting on having 4-5 co-developers on every list. Regardless, it's ridiculous to extrapolate that Retro Studios was a co-developer on MPH.Ajcalderon13 (talk) 23:32, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Address of Retro Studios[edit]

Is it really necessary to put the address of their headquarters in the infobox? If not, I'm deleting it and leaving it Austin, Texas. Alex 10:31, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't just the city it's in be fine? That's how it is in articles like the ones for Nintendo and Capcom. --Evice 10:43, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Retro/Nintendo partnership[edit]

From the first link, http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=1475790&cl=3873449, Mark Pacini, the game's director said they'll "..be on a break after this game.", yet Nintendo "wholly owns" all the company. They can break temporarily, but not permanently. I just want to know who's going to produce the next game because these facts and statements are vague. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Counterhype (talkcontribs) 00:31, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think that Retro is just the Metroid Studio for Nintendo? For a period of 15 years Metroid games were developed by Nintendo exclusively in Japan. Maybe the next Metroid game will be developed by NST (who did Prime Hunters), maybe by Nintendo Japan (who did the side scrollers), maybe by someone else. Who knows? Retro had some interesting projects in the past. Maybe they revive one of them. Maybe they do something entirely new. --KAMiKAZOW (talk) 22:19, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Dev teams go on "break" all the time. "Break" in this case does not mean not doing anything at all. Rather, it means not focusing on hard development of games. In other words, "break" means taking a break to figure out what the next project is going to be (taking time to come up with proposals, pre-development of said proposals, etc.). FYI, EAD (Miyamoto's group) takes "breaks" too. As the above poster stated, Retro could end up reviving an older project or developing a new one.Therealspiffyone (talk) 00:57, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Star Fox "Sequel"[edit]

I noticed that a few IPs added detail on Star Fox "sequel", such as a line: "Retro confirmed their Wii U project was a Star Fox sequel on December 27, 2011 and will be released in 2013. More information is expected to come at E3 2012." It hasn't been "confirmed" because I don't see any offical evidence for that. I'd considered this as speculative and unsourced. -- Hounder4 (T) (C) 12:35, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I haven't heard anything either, can't find anything and work closely with the gaming industry. I think that Star Fox has a big enough fan base to where this would be common knowledge if it were factual. UnlivedPhalanx —Preceding undated comment added 02:13, 22 January 2012 (UTC).[reply]

"A game everyone wants us to do"[edit]

I deleted the part where it says that Retro is working on "a game everyone wants us to do"(in the future projects section). Now ofcourse it can be a game "everyone wants them to do", but that doesn't take away that this particular quote was fabricated by "The Paul Gale Network". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grovna (talkcontribs) 14:26, 9 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Crossroad with "created games" section[edit]

Should we add the fact that Tropical Freeze is being ported to the Switch, or take it off because we know Retro didn't make it? I think some kind of note would be the best option. ~ P*h3i (talk to me) 06:05, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Citation style[edit]

I tagged this article with {{Citation style}} not necessarily because the style is inconsistent, but because many citations are missing useful details, such as dates and authors. I hope this suffices as an explanation. Geolodus (talk) 17:32, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The template has been removed now after another editor improved the referencing. Geolodus (talk) 18:14, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot to answer here. I seized the moment to do a general cleanup of poorly sourced information while remaking the formatting on all sources. Legitimately missing were dates on about three sources and "staff" author credits on two or so. I don't think this would have been worth adding a maintenance template for, but it's all clean now (or at least as clean as can be, since not all sources are properly credited or dated). Number of Employees?[edit]

According to LinkedIn, 162 people work there. It's pretty common to have info like that on a page about a game studio. Is that a reputable enough source? MrGuyWasTaken (talk) 20:57, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

According to LinkedIn, 162 LinkedIn profiles list Rare as their current employer. Neither do all of these profiles need to be accurate, nor do all Rare employees have LinkedIn profiles. This is why the site is not considered a reliable source. IceWelder [] 21:04, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rejected projects “Adept” and “The Blob Game”[edit]

Is "Did You Know Gaming" considered a relaible source? Recently they showcased their latest video that talks about two rejected Retro Studios projects: First the Portal-like Adept, and then the DS game The Blob Game that was going to feature the Mario enemies Boos.
