lack of wikified format[edit]

This page suffers from lots of vandals and, more recently, lack of wikified format. If this becomes a major issue I may wind up marking this page as such and/or requesting a lock. Until then, I have tried to splice information from the various versions to make a NPOV article with as much different info preserved as possible. Also, even though the section on mullberry paper appeared as a spam, it does appear to have useful info, so I have kept it. I have also restored the section on the rice paper plant, as it seems to have been removed as part of the spamming. Finally, the mullbery paper section should probaby be spilt off into a subsection in the washi article or its own article on mullberry paper making; either way a disclaimer should be put at the top of this article informing people of the other meanings of "rice paper".

I have also made a references section and added a redirect to washi, although the format may be wrong.

Any suggestions would be helpful. --Anuran 21:17, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I saw the vandalism on this page, so I can't help but fixed it and remove alot of bánh tráng link with different domain names (blatantly obvious for marketing purpose). I finally kept one because the site does describe with pretty pictures, the production process on making rice paper, which is the source of one of the paragraph in the article. I agree to request to lock it if vandalism continues.

There are lots of problems with this entry. The section on mulberry paper uses only Japanese terms. The section on edible "paper" should probably be split off? My opinion is that this article should be kept generic, as rice paper is a very generic term, with links to other articles. When I have time I'll try to come back to it. stale link[edit]

the bánh tráng link is stale.

What I came here looking for was instructions on what to do with a package of Bánh Tráng Viêt Nam Rice Paper which I purchased. I need instructions on what to do with it in order to make rolls. I know how to make the filling.

Hope this is seen as helpful, and not overly critical, thank you for wikipedia, Laura Creighton (in Sweden)

Laura, as a fellow Swede: Please find a recipe site instead. Tasteline.se has directions and recipes for both kinds of Vietnamese spring rolls. I checked.

Other than that, www.chanhkhang.netfirms.com scatter their links everywhere. I tried to clean the page up a bit. Their site sorta shows the process of making spring roll rice paper, so I left it in. Someone bolder than me needs to look through the link section though. I cleaned it up a little, but that link and two others (www.carriagehousepaper.com + www.trungtinco.com) seem like naught but advertisement. They maybe should be removed. -83.249.236.210 08:44, 23 August 2007 (UTC) Actually.. www.gyotakufishprints.com seems questionable too, and the www.uiowa.edu/~ctrbook/facilities/paper/ seems odd. -83.249.236.210 08:52, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What about rice paper for rolling cigarettes?[edit]

In SW Europe (France, Spain...) at least, the term "rice paper" normally brings to mind just one thing: thin white quality cigarette rolling paper. Some companies even use the term "riz" (rice in French) in their name (Rizla) or this word is impressed in the paper itself (Abadie and others).

Can anyone document and write on this usage of "rice paper"? --85.84.224.110 (talk) 20:51, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

COnsensus to split, which has been achieved long ago. Main article tag has been added to food section. Felix QW (talk) 13:18, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Someone tagged this article for splitting. Support.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 02:48, 4 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. LuKesi (talk) 22:01, 5 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Support Definitely. The food-related content should be moved to Bánh tráng and this article should be a disambiguation page. --Comedora (talk) 06:17, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging @Kintetsubuffalo, LuKesi, and Comedora: what's the status of this? A. C. Santacruz Talk 14:15, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Support I second the support above, and for the food section of the article it says: "See Bánh tráng" — Preceding unsigned comment added by You'vegotmail27 (talkcontribs) 21:07, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
