Identification[edit]

Is this the same cherry that is called Napoleon in Europe? If so then the article should be moved to Napoleon cherry, as that's the original name with a long and interesting history. I've also reduced the importance within the Food project, as maraschino cherry covers the food use in depth.FlagSteward 13:55, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From the description of the plant and illustration I don't think these are the same cultivar. French wikipedia describes the Napoleon tree as being 8 m in height and a particular characteristic of the fruit is that they are bi-coloured with areas of red a yellow colour.
